Clintonwood Camp K-2nd grade & 3rd-5th grade Whether its your first time a camp or you have been coming since preschool, what better way is there to spend your summer than with your friends playing in the park, swimming at the beach, taking awesome field trips, making crafts, learning a new game, or playing 4-square? Campers can sign up for one day or the whole summer!

Discovery Teen Camp 6th-9th grade Want a fun place to hang out with your friends this summer? Then Discovery Teen Camp is for you! Come hang out with us and travel on lots of cool field trips, have fun, meet new people and have the time of your life! Field trips include: bowling, the movies and much more! Don’t miss out on the awesome memories you could make at this “just for teens”summer camp

We Make The Last Week Of Camp Extra Fun!! Finish the summer with nothing but FUN! Each day we will be traveling on a new adventure. Past field trips include the Waterford Wave Pool, Cosmic Bowling, In-Line Skating and Putt-Putt! Register for this week when you register for other weeks of camp. We are sorry, but no Before & After Care will be offered this week. Finish N Fun is limited to the first 50 campers. This camp is for campers grades K-6th.

Counselor-In-Training (C.I.T.) Program Want to further your leadership skills? Enjoy working with children? Want to gain first hand experience as a camp counselor? Do you have a week to volunteer? Then this is for you! C.I.T.’s will assist Camp Counselors during the Summer Camp and Pre-School Programs. C.I.T.’s must commit to at least one week-long session to be considered for participation, as well as, attend one day training. No compensation is paid; however, C.I.T.’s will be awarded community service hours. Applications for C.I.T.’s are available at the Parks and Recreation Department. Interviews will begin in May. Fee includes: orientation, uniform and end of the summer party! Location depends on which program C.I.T. is assigned to. Ages: 14 years or have completed the 8th grade • When: June 10-August 16 • 9:30am – 4:30pm • Cost: $50 Registration Fee; plus $15 per week participating

Cedar Point It’s your chance to sit back and enjoy a screamin’good time with your friends at Cedar Point. Transportation is motor coach. Parks and Recreation staff will supervise this trip. To ensure your child’s safety, a buddy system will be used with group check-ins throughout the day. Price includes transportation and ticket. Registration will begin on 4/27 for Residents and those in the Clarkston School District. Open registration begins May 9. Deadline to register is August 9th. This program is a separate program from summer day camp. Separate payment and registration information is needed and is not included in week 9 of Discovery Camp. Look At Your World Explore the science around you with this fun camp for preschoolers. Investigate butterflies, the world of wiggly worms and explore the exciting world of color! Preschoolers will learn about birds and how they eat, about the air and how it makes things move and all about shapes and structures in this wonderful hands-on camp for the curious young scientist. Digging For Dinosaurs Come and dig for dinosaur bones and make your very own dinosaur teeth. In this camp your preschooler will have fun learning tons of awesome facts about dinosaurs through songs, stories and hands on activities. Little Kickers Soccer Camp This camp will teach the ABC’s of soccer. Skills will include dribbling, ball handling and games. EVERY CHILD MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT OR ADULT. This camp will be instructed by Damian Huffer, UEFA ‘B’Licensed Coach, Michigan Impact’s Director of Coaching and staff. Deadline to register is 7/31. Little Farmers Camp Sign your preschooler up for a camp filled with many activities focused around farm animals including: games, songs, crafts, hikes and the All Kids Playground! Our friendly staff will introduce your child to the animals at Hess-Hathaway Park and learn first hand about their care. Everyday will be themed for a different animal. Price includes t–shirt. Registration deadline is the Wednesday prior to camp by 4pm if space is available. Little Stars Sing, dance, act and create! Each day is a performing arts bonanza! Interpret a book, learn a dance, make an art project and sing songs. Monday-Thursday will be spent learning exciting numbers that will be performed in a show for parents the last half hour of camp on Thursday. Don’t forget your video cameras; you’ll want to keep these darling performances on tape forever! Junior Olympic Sports Camp At this action packed camp, girls and boys ages 4-7 learn and participate in a wide variety of sports (lacrosse, flag football, soccer etc) in a week filled with fun, learning and new friendships. The campers are divided into different countries and work together to earn points for their team. A strong emphasis on learning, good sportsmanship, team work and the Olympic spirit is incorporated. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt and a participation medal. Parents are welcome to join the camp on Friday, 7/12 at 11:45am for the Parade of Flags and Medal Presentation. nd a e d i s t Get Ou ave Some Fun! H Junior Lifeguard Camp Back by popular demand, this program teaches strong swimmers the ins and outs of being a lifeguard. This hands-on course will teach lifesaving techniques, how to be a stronger swimmer, basic first aid and CPR. After completing the course, participants will have the option to volunteer at the Beach and assist a Swim Instructor with a swim lesson. Registration begins Saturday, May 12 for residents at 9am until 1pm and continues during regular business hours Monday, May 14. Non-resident registration begins 5/22 at 8am until full. The registration deadline is July 3, 5pm.

Youth Baseball Hit, Field, and Throw Clinic The Varsity Shop Training Center is excited to offer this new one-day clinic focusing on hitting, fielding, and throwing. This program will teach the athletes the proper skills to succeed. Each player will go through drills that will teach proper throwing mechanics, fielding technique and hitting for power and contact. Youth Baseball Pitchers & Catchers Clinic No positions are more involved and more important to the game of baseball than pitcher and catcher. The Varsity Shop Training Center has put together a one-day clinic that will specifically work on these positions. Pitching skills covered are: proper throwing technique, pitch development, managing base runners, delivery mechanics, fielding the position, and throwing to catchers. Catching skills covered are: proper stance for health and efficiency, throwing mechanics, blocking and receiving drills, and catching live pitchers. Deadline to register is May 3. Soccer Skills Camp

Volleyball Skills Camp

This camp, sponsored in part by Michigan Impact, will cater to players ages 6-13, and focus on skills training, tactical coaching, attacking, shooting, goalkeeping, fun games, and World Cup Tournament. The camp is structured to meet the ability levels of all players from beginner to advance. This camp will be instructed by Damian Huffer, UEFA ‘B’Licensed Coach, Michigan Impact’s Director and staff. Deadline to register is 7/31. If space still available after the registration deadline, add $10.

This is a 5 day program that will teach players basic skills needed to play volleyball. Each day will be a structured lesson that will build skills day to day. Learning focus will be passing, serving, setting, hitting and the importance of teamwork (plus having fun in the sun!). Players will be divided into age appropriate groups and learn the age appropriate skills. No prior experience necessary! Bring a water bottle & sunscreen. Deadline to register is 6/10. If spaces still exist after the registration deadline and registration is accepted, a $10 late fee will apply. Sorry, no refunds after registration deadline. This program is offered in conjunction with Waterford Twp. Resident rates apply to partnering communities.

Fame Camp Fame’s the name performing arts excitement is the game! A week long odyssey into jazz dance, theatre, music and art. The week culminates with an on-stage performance for parents that will highlight all of their learning. Students will learn all levels of performing arts including singing, dancing and acting. Bring a sack lunch, imaginations, energy and a camera everyday to camp. You’ll want to keep these star filled memories forever. A camp T-shirt is included. Team Reptile Team Reptile’s Mission is to provide people with information and education regarding reptiles, amphibians and other wildlife that inhabit Michigan. Team Reptile activities are designed to teach participants to appreciate and respect our environment by providing information and education about our local environment and wildlife using a hands-on approach.

Team Reptile’s Michigan Wildlife Adventures Advanced Camp This camp is designed for campers that have participated in at least 4 previous Team Reptile Camps and have verbal permission from the Team Reptile Director. Participants will explore a variety of areas (some new and some familiar) while filming for Team Reptile’s “MI Wildlife Adventures” Public Access Television Program. Campers will also be involved with the production of a specific episode of the program based on the Advanced Camp’s adventures. Campers will assist with the planning, filming, and editing of the programs. Campers will also have many hands-on experiences during the camp, including: exploring a local park for snakes, salamanders, turtles, frogs, and other wildlife. Campers will also participate in educational activities such as developing charts, displays and exhibits for the public to enjoy. Participants will receive a t-shirt. Participants must dress for exploring the outdoors; bring a sack lunch and a change of clothes everyday. Registration is required one week before each start date. All Camps dates are subject to change or cancellation. Resident rate applies to Independence, Springfield and Rose Twps.

NASA: Journey into Outer Space

Track scents through trails, relay on a “lunar”site, play “prefect”baseball and build your own telescope as you explore the world and universe in this fun camp! You’ll help solve ecological problems, explore the animal kingdom, investigate the scientific concepts involved in all aspects of sports and use secret messages and special codes.

From our Earth’s atmosphere to the outer reaches of our solar system, this hands-on program for children ages 6-12 sends them on a quest for exploration! This camp is a joint venture with NASA that takes campers deep into the atmosphere. Comets, planets, starts and more are all waiting to be discovered. Learn about the four forces of flight, the challenges of space travel and participate in rocket launch! NASA branded takehomes each day.

All Kids Empowered Camps are held at the Orion Center (1335 Joslyn Rd.) Camps will include a ½ hour demonstration during the last ½ hour on the last day of camp. Sessions also include an emailed parent handout with an overview of the lessons. Please bring one healthy, nut-free snack and a reusable water bottle. Please wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing. Resident rate applies to those in Independence Township and Orion Township.

American Girl Camp & Friendship Girls will have fun with their American Girl Dolls learning lessons about building character with the historical dolls and learning how to deal with girl friendship issues using the movie “Chrissa Stand Strong.”Camp includes matching girls/ doll crafts, role plays, and fitness activities all while learning to be empowered and staying true to themselves. AGES 7-11 • M-F, June 24-28 • 9am-12pm • $150 res/$165 non-res

Little Girls Empowered American Girl Camp & Being Me Using the stories and movies of American Girls Molly, Kit, Samantha and Felicity, girls will learn how to determine who they want to be in life. They will learn to believe and have confidence in themselves and use their power to build others and themselves up and to make an impact on the world. Camp includes matching girl/doll crafts, role playing and daily fitness activities. Girls can bring any doll. AGES 4-6 • M-F, June 24-28 • 12:30-3:30pm • $150 res/$165 non-res

Kid Power This camp will lay the foundation for our little ones to become confident and empowered. They will learn how to use positive self-talk language to believe in themselves and handle sticky situations. A child who believes in themselves and has the skills to manage sticky situations with peers will feel happy with and be able to manage peer relationships in a healthy way. We will do crafts, games, and fitness and use books to learn about KID POWER! AGES 4-6 • M-F, July 8-12 • 12:30-3:30pm • $150 res/$165 non res

Bully Proof Me Kids will learn how to NOT be a target for bullies. This camp is all about strategies for dealing with bullies and mean-spirited behavior. Kids will learn great responses to meanness and how to use confident body language, a strong voice and words. Kids will make bully-proof themed crafts to learn how to protect themselves. They will learn stress management techniques and coping skills to help them deal with emotional toil of someone being mean to them and to stand up for themselves. Getting Ready For Kindergarten Going to Kindergarten is a big transition period for many kids. This camp will help kids prepare for a new adventure with activities to teach them how to make new friends, manage emotions, make good decisions and enter this exciting time with confidence. Diary Of A Wimpy Kid Boys and Girls will have fun learning about how to be themselves and deal with everyday meanness and bullying. Kids will learn how to be assertive and not aggressive or passive through cartooning, playing games, and fun activities. They will learn how to handle conflict and problem solve with confidence.
