TOWN ASEP Town After-School Enrichment Programs
TOWN ASEP is back with variations on your favorite afterschool activities for the 2023–24 school year! These afterschool enrichment programs will be available to students from all Moraga elementary schools and those in homeschool programs. Classes will take place at the Hacienda de las Flores located at 2100 Donald Drive unless otherwise noted.
Rheem Bus Passes: If your child attends Rheem Elementary School, bus service will be available. The Lamorinda School Bus program will be adding an additional bus stop at the Hacienda. Children with an annual bus pass purchased through the school district will be able to use this service free of charge.

Cooking Round the World Staff • Ages 6–12
Session 1: Sandwich Shop
We introduce kids to a variety of breads and wrappings, common creations like grilled cheese with tomatoes, more unusual fare like a chow mein sandwich…plus interesting homemade shmears like hummus and pesto.

Some call them perogies, others call them won tons, still others call them Kreplach. Whatever you call them, international dumplings are delicious with various filling and dipping sauces.

Regions of China
Each Chinese region has its own unique set of recipes including different spices. Campers will explore the various cooking styles and offerings from these regions: Sichuan, Taiwan, Hunan, Shandong and Guangdong (Cantonese).

Strum & Sing w/ Ukeleles is a fun beginning ukulele class. We will learn to tune, strum, and play common chords on our ukuleles. We will learn songs and play musical games! Let’s strum & sing!
*Students bring their own ukulele. Lamorinda Music has a large assortment for sale.

Regions of Italy
Each Italian region has its own specialties. We will “visit” Campania, Emilia-Romangna, Toscana, Abruzzo, and Venetto and cook and eat dishes each region is known for. Pizzas, pasta, salads, veggies and desserts. Delizioso!

Children will visit a different US state each day, learn about what that state is distinctly known for, and eat delicious foods associated with that state.

Cooking Round the World
You won’t need a passport to cook from different countries around the world! Students will learn about culture and celebrations while enjoying the foods and flavors from different countries. Each class we cook 1–2 different dishes from the country of the day. Other activities include map and language education, a folktale from the country of the day, and a cooking demonstration. Yum, fun, and educational!

Street Food Round the World
From Brazilian bolinhos de arroz (fried rice fritters), to Hong Kong pot stickers, to Irish mini spinach tarts, some of the best cultural cuisine can be had from a street cart. Students will be trying these “pick-up and take-away” treats from around the world!

FUN!damentals of Drawing
We are back to school and back to drawing with Young Rembrandts! This session’s selection of drawings introduces our students to a fascinating world of color, pattern, and design. We say goodbye to our favorite summer memory in our detailed still life drawing of a beach. We explore color usage and composition in our silly monster and fire truck drawings. You will be MOOOOOved with our stylized patterned cow drawing that challenges our technique and color scheme. Our students will learn cultural themes as they draw and color in the Kawaii art style. For Winter Session 3, curriculum is TBD, but note that no student draws the same drawing twice, ever!

Cartoon Anime
Does your child love all things Anime and cartoons?
If so, your child will love Young Rembrandts Anime Cartooning. Students will jump head first into the world of Anime cartooning by first learning expressions. They will learn a variety of skills as their original characters seemingly emote and breathe. Students will learn to personify inanimate objects, tell a joke through pictures, and learn to add motion and attitude all session long. Give your child the gift of cartooning!

Chess Challenge

Immerse yourself in the exciting world of chess! Chess is fun and can be learned quickly and easily! Transportation Engineering
Break the sound barrier on a supersonic jet, deliver cargo by train, and explore a swamp in your airboat. Build and create different modes of transportation out of more than 20,000 pieces of LEGO®, all while learning about the engineering concepts that make vehicles and vessels work.

Level up your LEGO® Engineering skills in this video game-inspired experience. Our Play-Well instructors bring your favorite video game characters and experiences to real life. Using LEGO®, learn Link’s signature moves to defeat enemies, build mechanisms to make sonic spin and take out Robotnik, and even build go-karts to challenge Mario and friends in a race for the Mushroom Cup. All the fun of a video game adventure without the screen!

Mandalorian Training
Here’s your chance to join our friends and learn what it takes to become a true Mandalorian. Using LEGO®, an experienced instructor will guide you through the skills and equipment needed to earn the title. We will build our gauntlet fighter ship to weave through the galaxy, our Z-6 jetpacks to maneuver through the air, and of course defend ourselves with our Mandalorian armor. This program combines all your favorite Skyhawks sports and games into one action-packed enrichment class. Participants will learn and play fun Skyhawks variations of Baseball, Basketball, Capture the Flag, Dodgeball, Flag Football, Kickball, Soccer, Track & Field, Ultimate Frisbee, and Volleyball. By adding just the right amount of friendly competition, this program teaches boys and girls skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and strategy. Bring your friends or come make new ones. Alternate indoor activities will be ready to go for rainy days this winter.

If you are obsessed with singing and performing and come alive when you hear certain songs… let it go and join Glee Club! Glee Club is a weekly ensemble performance class where students sing, learn fun dance moves, and staging while singing their hearts out to their favorite songs. Students will also create their own show stopping choreography, make props and musical instruments, sing solos, and play games. Session ends with an epic live performance!

Performing Academy’s Spring Musical 2024
The Performing Academy Staff

The Performing Academy will be back with a 12-week musical theatre program in the Winter. No experience necessary.
Work with teaching artist Renee DeWeese Moran! Grades 3–5 audition for roles. Grades 1–2 play our ensemble. Final performances with lights, microphones, sets, and costumes will be performed at the Lesher Center in downtown Walnut Creek. Join us and experience the hard work and excitement of being in a show!
