Together with glimmers of sun, the May half term is nearly here! Longer, brighter days have arrived, so time to get planning some great days out and make up for any lost time! There are lots of family-friendly events going on, so read on for some of the best in our area and let the kids look forward to some fun!
Sunday 29th May BBC PHILHARMONIC FAMILY CONCERT WITH MR TUMBLE AND FRIENDS!
Join Mr Tumble and his CBeebies friends for an orchestral adventure featuring the Hello song, the Shine song and some exciting orchestral music on Sunday 29th May at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall. Mr Tumble’s friends will include CBeebies star Justin Fletcher, saxophonist YolanDa Brown of YolanDa’s Band Jam fame, Rebecca Keatley from the CBeebies House and Spotty the Horse! The BBC Philharmonic Family Concert is a great way for children of all ages and their families to experience a full symphony orchestra performing live music. Book now online. Sat 28th May – Sun 5th June THE TOPSY-TURVY JUBILEE TEA PARTY IN TATTON PARK’S GARDENS
You’re invited this May half term to a whirlwind garden adventure in Tatton Park’s gardens, where you’ll encounter a host of jubilant merrymakers’ intent on a regal celebration. This is no ordinary Garden Party! Forest fun with a mythical outlaw, potty tea-time with the Mad Hatter and musical mayhem in Ancient Greece! Bring your own royal feast (and picnic rug) to enjoy in the festive woodland glade. Free performances will take place throughout the day at 11:30am, 1pm and 2:30pm. Sat 28th May –Sun 5th June DISCOVER THE POWER OF SUPERBEES
Head off to RHS Garden Bridgewater and join them for a week of fun activities from 28th May to 5th June to learn all about our favourite pollinators. Make a bee friendly garden in interactive planting workshops and follow the garden trail to discover more about how special bees are. Wander through the honey scented bee colony in Artizani’s funny and thought-provoking installation for a multisensory peek into the secret life of bees. Back for 2022, Manchester Day returns to our streets for a celebration of togetherness and a dose of good old-fashioned fun! On Sunday 19th June, the Manchester Day Parade weaves its way through the city centre in a riot of colour, sound and spectacle. With live entertainment, free family activities, youth markets, street food and special pop-up events across the city centre on the day, there’s something for everyone at Manchester Day. Sunday 26th June RUN, CYCLE OR ZUMBA AT STOCKSPORT 2022
There’s a wonderful free day out for the whole family coming soon – Stockport’s biggest, free event yet on Sunday 26th June, from 9am to 10pm. The Running Festival will have something for everyone: My First Mile for all ages, a 5k or 10k – medals for all! Try out cycle racing and watch a spectacular British Cycling town centre Criterium race, plus there’s free cycling activities, BMX stunt displays, children’s circuits, bikes to try out, such as e-bikes and adapted bikes. With giveaways, Smoothie Bike and a children’s Town Centre trail, there is something for all ages to enjoy. You can also try family friendly fitness classes for free.
