A tailored transition programme guarantees a warm welcome to secondary school
The transition to secondary school is a pivotal moment in a child’s life, and they recognise that at Burnage Academy for Boys. For those lucky enough to be joining them in September 2022, they’re preparing to welcome them into the school through a tailored transition programme, where they will introduce their values of independence, resilience and care. Whether it is visiting them for taster lessons, going to try the sports facilities, or touring the school as a family, it is important for both pupils and parents to feel part of the Burnage community from the moment they accept their offer. A satisfying new role for Karen with Home lnstead
Karen used to be a nursery nurse, looking after children, but was looking to change her role and wanted a new challenge. This is what she had to say, “I’m Karen, and I have worked for Home Instead for 9 months. I hadn’t worked in care before, but I was keen for a new experience. I was so excited and nervous to start with, but everybody was helpful, friendly and approachable. There was a lot to learn but the training process was so thorough and interesting. The support I received from the office team was great, I never felt alone and this continued once I started working. Although you work remotely, you are never alone. Home Instead really care about their staff and all the caregivers I worked with are so friendly too. I love my job with Home Instead, because every day is different, and every client is different and the satisfaction I feel after I have visited my clients is wonderful. Just knowing I have brightened their day, makes me feel like I have done a good job. It’s not like a job, it’s very much like visiting a relative.” W: www.homeinstead.co.uk/south-manchester
Why should you consider boarding at Dallam?
Choosing a secondary school for your child is an important decision; there are many things to consider. Some schools in your catchment area may be good but oversubscribed. You may want your child to have the opportunity to mix with a different group of children than those from their primary school. What are the travel implications of getting them to school and home from after-school clubs every day? Do the schools offer enough extra-curricular activities to enrich your child’s learning and experiences? As an international state boarding school, students choose to join Dallam from across the UK and around the world. Their welcoming and inclusive ethos and highly skilled team are well rehearsed in how to help students settle in quickly and make friends. Boarding can help your child achieve the best they can academically, ensuring they have fun and stay active and healthy and develop into a responsible young adult. With homework taken care of at boarding, it allows families to enjoy quality time together at weekends. Monday-Friday boarding at Dallam School could make a significant positive change for your child and your family. Visit them online to find out more and secure a place for your child’s future. Exceptional pastoral care ensures every pupil can thrive
When considering a new school, the main focus for any parent will be to find a community where your child will be and happy and will thrive. It goes hand in hand that a happy child will be a successful child. At Hulme Hall, their excellent Pastoral team care for and nurture pupils through their educational journey. As a non-selective school, they recognise the potential in all students. Their exam results demonstrate the academic progress that individuals make and the value and enrichment that a Hulme Hall approach can add. “The quality of pastoral care makes a strong contribution to pupils’ personal development.” (ISI 2014).
