City of Waukesha Clean Water Plant

The City of Waukesha municipal wastewater treatment facility processes an average of 8-9 million gallons per day (MGD).

On a guided tour, visitors will see the treatment of the liquid waste. Additionally, guests will see the treatment of the solids removed from each of these steps, and the ultimate biosolids end-product which is land-applied to farm fields for valuable nutrient recycling.

City of Waukesha Water Utility Lake Michigan Reservoirs and Booster Pumping Station

The City of Waukesha municipal water utility construction of a new booster pumping station will be nearly complete. This $35 million facility is designed to store 18 million gallons and distribute an average of 8-10 million gallons per day (MGD).

On a guided tour of the construction site, visitors will see two 8.6-million-gallon Reservoirs, the Booster Pumping Station and a one-million-gallon 160-foot-tall concrete composite Water Tower.

-Continued next columnThe Booster Pumping Station will include piping and may include some pumping equipment, chemical feed equipment, and instrumentation and control systems depending on the progress made this summer. For safety reasons, as the site is currently under construction, some areas may not be accessible.

Bus Tour: Waukesha Historic Springs

The Springs Healing Water bus tour will feature four of the City’s designated Local Landmark Springs. Silurian, Hobo, Acme, and Minniska Springs are the four remnants of Waukesha’s famous Springs Era which are in the best condition, and they are all designated as Local Landmarks.

The tour will visit each of the four spring sites and will cover their history and restoration, as well as the general history of the Springs Era.
