Woman and dogs rescued from fire

A woman and her six dogs have been rescued by fire crews from a blaze that broke out in the thatched roof of a cottage on West Street in Bishops Nympton. South Molton Fire Station were called-out at around 6.20pm on Sunday, May 26th and were joined by eight crews from North and Mid Devon and a water bowser from Exeter - it took around seven hours to bring the

flames under control and prevent them spreading to neighbouring properties. Other animals at the property included llamas and horses, but they were outside and not harmed, the fire service said.

Obituary - Barry Price

Former South Molton resident Barry Price passed away on April 7th, 2024 aged 80. Barry joined the Royal Air Force as a ‘Boy Entrant’ and rose to become a commissioned officer working for some of the most senior RAF Commanders. He was an outstanding athlete excelling in football and marathon running.

Following retirement, he became well-known in the town, maintaining his interest in the Armed Forces through his membership of the Royal British Legion. Sadly missed by his brother Colin, friends and former RAF colleagues.
