Plastic free Exmoor

Exmoor has become the first National Park in Britain to be awarded ‘Plastic Free Community’ status. It recognises ongoing efforts by businesses and communities to turn Exmoor into a plastic free hotspot, and help reduce the impact of single-use plastic on the environment.

Peter Hoyland, who works at the park’s Dunster visitor centre, has been coordinating the initiative and says support has been tremendous, “We now have a network of more than forty businesses and organisations across Exmoor committed to reducing and removing our reliance on single use plastic. They are also helping us to spread the plastic free message to others in the local community and people visiting our beautiful national park.” Peter added, “Exmoor’s journey towards eliminating single use plastic has only just begun, and we now need more local businesses and groups to get involved.”
