Help save our Swifts

The South Molton Save Our Swifts group is appealing for people to join them this month, to put up next boxes to help reverse the decline in numbers of these iconic birds in North Devon.

The birds are on the conservation red list in the UK, due to the loss of nesting sites, habitats abroad and due to the challenges of severe weather on their migration.

Last year, 30 nest boxes were put up around South Molton and the group is hoping to urgently find more sites this month, as the Swifts arrive from Africa later in April.

The group can provide nest boxes at £15 each, and can advise on the best places to put them up, along with help installing them.
