The first basket is what we call D.O.R.P.s: an acronym we use for the process of helping our clients to Digitize, Organize, Restore and Preserve. What you will NOT see here in this Idea Book are prices. There’s a reason for that. One of the first questions I often get from prospective clients is “How much would it cost to…?” And I always have to answer “It depends”. I’m truly not trying to be evasive, but the fact is that I don’t sell widgets. The work I do is custom and the recommendations I make are very individualized. Therefore, it’s difficult for me to commit to specific prices for the general public because it depends on individual goals, deadlines, and how much work I need to do with the media provided versus what you’re able and willing to do yourself. Are my services expensive? Here is the most honest answer I can give: I will never promise to sprout the cheapest price. What I will promise is that I will always provide the very best value for what you want to spend. One thing you should know about me, I come from a long line of frugal women, so rest assured that I will always provide you options that will get you the most bang for your buck. To borrow from medical jargon, I treat my clients holistically. Before doing any work for you, I want to first understand your long and short term goals, priorities, and budget (both in time and money) to reach those goals. I will then be able to provide you recommendations, a game plan and a written price quote on whatever you need from me that will give you the best value for your dollar. Special Occasion Albums For a once-in-a-lifetime event, you want a once-in-a-lifetime album. We design just that. As a Photo Manager & Media Storyteller, I have access to the top print labs, available only to professionals. From this pool, I’ve scoped out the album lines that provide the very best quality per dollar spent. A Note about Albums for Special Occasions: One of the most common reasons for wanting an album is to commemorate a special occasion. And for a special occasion, people usually want an album that’s a cut above. Unfortunately, this has usually limited them to only the options offered from the photographer. In the traditional pricing model, photographers charge a very low fee for a sitting or to shoot an occasion and make their profit by marking up the output: most notably on any albums or prints you might want. But this is changing! Today, more and more photographers are offering a more transparent pricing model where the photographer charges fairly for their time and talent in shooting the event, but than makes the image files available to the client to do what they wish with. This model allows the client to: •
Shop for the best value for their albums and prints.

Use them in other projects such as Video Fusion Shows or Photo Wall Art.

Take advantage of their guests’ photo and video contributions! 6
As for the photographer, this model allows them to concentrate on what they do best: capturing the very best moments of your special occasion. Knowing this, if you’re involved with the planning of a special event and interviewing photographers, make sure to ask if they will provide your image files to you on CD or flash drive. If they will, we encourage you to let us know what you have in mind and then ask for a quote. If we decide to work together, we will custom design your album to your unique event (as well as any other projects you might like such as Video Fusion Shows or Photo Wall Art) while getting you the very BEST value for your dollar.

Albums for the Masses (Of Photos!) The Numbers are Staggering: Americans take more than 10 billion photos every month. (And most never leave our devices). The more digital our world becomes, the more precious physical photo albums become (especially when it comes with the digital version to share with your peeps wherever they are!). If you’re looking for a home for the masses of photos on all your various devices, along with print photos that have not yet been scanned, our custom-designed albums will get you the very best bang for your buck. We create gorgeous albums that won’t send you to the poorhouse. Of course, there IS a cheaper alternative and that’s to do it yourself. There’s a myriad of public facing web sites you can use to create your own albums and if you have the time and talent, and are happy with the quality, then we encourage you to go for it. But, if you don’t have the time or talent, (which is why most photos are siting on various devices, hard drives, or deteriorating in the basement!) then you definitely want to check out our custom-designed albums.

Note: One thing that we strongly discourage is storing your print photos in traditional magnetic (self-adhesive) albums. Sorry to tell you that these magnetic albums, that have been popular for years and are still sold in craft stores, are not a safe home for your photos! The paper used in these albums is acid-based and is combined with an adhesive and type of plastic that destroys printed media. A colleague of mine calls it the chemical sandwich.

Restoring & Preserving Your Family Heirlooms If truth be told, some of my most enjoyable album projects have been recreating heirloom albums that have seen a better day. Many families have albums or scrapbooks that can date back a century or more. These books are very special because they often contain far more than just photos. Sometimes the most valuable memories are the handwritten notes and other elements on the pages themselves. Restoring & Preserving Legacy Albums

Other heirlooms such as cookbooks or memoirs may not even contain photos, but you may want to preserve the stories and make these keepsakes come alive. Keepsake Albums With Added Years Comes Added Stuff and it Just Multiplies as We Get Older. Things handed down, things we bought, things given to us, travel mementos. The resulting product is then wrapped on a board, with or without a foam layer (softop) in between the print and the board. Background Replacements How many times has this happened to you?…You’re at a special event and take a great picture – a picture that’s truly frame or album worthy. Except…there’s other people or things in the background. We can help! Whether you want to remove just some background distractions or transform the photo to look as though it was taken in a studio, we can do it.

Make EVERYONE Look Great in Group Pics
And what about those rare opportunities to take a large group photo? Most photographers, if asked, are happy to take several shots of the same pose in case someone’s eyes are closed or someone is hidden. The photographer will then usually pick the best one to send to you but with a large group, you’ll still likely have peeps that don’t look their best. We offer a better alternative! When your photographer curates your photos, have him/ her send you ALL takes of the group shots. About Your Memories At Hand In my role as “the family historian”, early on I developed a passion for preserving and displaying my family’s (and later friends’) photos, video and film. I started Your Memories At Hand© in 2011 first of all, to help individuals, families and communities utilize their memories to tell their stories, and secondly, to help folks to get their media in shape: what I call D.O.R.P.S: Digitize, Organize, Restore, Preserve & Share. At the same time, given that I’ve been selfemployed for over 30 years, I recognized that while families have stories to tell, so do small businesses. Unfortunately, most marketing firms are geared toward big companies with prices that are out of reach for the small business. And while do-it-yourself web services are great for business cards and brochures, there is precious little else that tells your business story in a cost-effective way. So, in 2014, I launched Your Biz Story Told© to help small businesses and individual entrepreneurs showcase their company’s products and services in a cost effective way.

Mollie Wasserman Chief Memory Officer | Certified Photo Manager | Media Storyteller A little about my background: I spent 15+ years in real estate as a practitioner, broker and team manager culminating with the founding of the Accredited Consultant in Real Estate® (ACRE) Course and Coaching program, an innovative training program for real estate professionals that focused on providing services and getting paid from a consultative model. I’m the author of two real estate books and a co-author of a third. On a personal note, I’m truly multi-geographic, having been born in Florida (of Boston-bred parents) and raised in Texas. I attended school in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Mississippi before coming to the Boston area in 1979. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Northeastern University in Boston. I live with my husband Steve in Framingham, MA. We have two sons, Jeff and Dan, daughter-in-law Anna, granddaughter April, grandson Gavin and a very cute dog named Brewster.
