QUEEN CITY CONFM ICE An&Drson No. Coach: Vince Suriano (7935) ® Will succeed if the Redskins can continue their tradition of excellence. Nearly 90 players are on the roster this year, including 34 seniors, so numbers will not be a problem. ® Will struggle if Anderson rests on its laurels. Though the roster numbers sound impressive, the Redskins lack size and experience. For their season finale against area power St. Xavier to have any playoff implications, the Redskins will likely need to stay undefeated through conference play. Oak Nl i s Coach: Steve Sheehan (7-3) 30141 succeed if the defense, which returns eight starters, can be one of the toughest in the city. Special teams could win one or two games this season, as the kicker and punter are both highly experienced. One or two extra wins will obviously help, especially since Oak Hills plays LaSalle, Elder and Colerain in non-league games. ® Will struggle it the offensive line can't hide its inexperience behind an impressive-average weight of 245 pounds. Like Anderson, numbers also are impressive, as 85 players fill the roster, but that could be moot when a green offensive line will block for a thin corps of running backs. Coach: Jay Miller (0-0) Will succeed if the Barons can ride the strength and talent of their senior players. Sixteen upperclassmen will lead Amelia, including eight returning starters on defense. The Barons also have good depth at the offensive skill positions. WIII struggle if the thin crop of underclassmen can't play like those more seasoned players. Only one returning starter is a non-senior, so some positions will experience some on-the-job training. These players will need to learn quickly if the Barons are hoping for a fifth consecutive winning season. WOODWARD ELDER AIKEN at Amelia TURPIN at Oak Hills ANDERSON at Glen Este MIDDLETOWN

Hughes 0- Coach: Al West(22-48) ® Will succeed if Thomas Roberts has a huge game every week. The Big Red returns starting quarterback Roberts, an Enquirer all-star selection last year, and he can make big plays both passing and rushing. His game-breaking ability will need to shine through quite often for Hughes to win seven or eight games, which will be difficult. o- Will struggle it the defensive line cannot control the line of scrimmage. If opponents find any success rushing through Hughes'first line of defense, they could keep on running to the end zone, because the Big Red has just four linebackers on the roster. Only one is a senior with experience.

Twenty-six player3 on the rostel, however, will make that feat a tough one. > Will struggle if players leave the team before the season en 1s. At the start of east season, W fadward had to forfeit two ga Tres because they simply were sh alt on playe S. Coach Jackson ne,ds a win or two early in the se ison to keep his players interes ed in sticking it out. Name A. Alexander J. Spikes R. Allen S. Bland A. Bryant S. Eason R. Evans L.
