How did you get interested in b&w photography? Sarah: After taking my first digital photography class during my sophomore year of high school, I decided to take on b&w film photo during my junior year. I gave it a go and happened to take an interest to it. It was more fun & interesting than digital because you only get one chance to make each shot count. My inspirations were Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Man Ray, Henri Carter Bresson, Robert Mapplethorpe, Andy Warhol, do you have anyone who inspires you from today?

Would I like the same music? Would I hang around the same crowd of people? Would I even care about photography? Basically, I’m happy with the way things are and I’m glad that photography has become a significant part of my life. What photo are you the most proud of? Sarah: This photo is of the lead vocalist of the band The Gift of Ghosts. I’m the most proud of this photo because I only had a ½ negative to work with. I got an idea and I ran with it; flipping the ½ negative & the creation of this print was all done on the enlarger.

Sarah: Elliott Landy, Adam Elmakias, Jered Scott, and Corinne Alexandra are my main influences. Plus, other young artists inspire me from time to time. Who is your favorite photographer? Sarah: Adam Elmakias What is your favorite subject? Sarah: I’m gonna have to say portraits. I really enjoy shooting live music concerts/shows, as well as candid and un-candid shots of people. Do you have plans to pursue photography in the future? Sarah: Yeah I do! I want to go to college for it and hopefully one day become a pro myself. If I can’t get a job in the field, I’m definitely thinking about starting my own business. Do you think you would have pursued this if school did not offer it? Sarah: No. That’s a scary thought. If my school didn’t offer photography classes, I would most likely be a “lost cause” and or clueless about what I want to do with my life. Plus, I have a feeling that my current life would be a lot different.
