Modeliste magazine celebrates a new breed of rising supermodel stars. AS 2016 comes to a close, Modeliste celebrates its 2 year anniversary commemorating our glamourous Cover Girls we’ve showcased over the years. Filled with talent, style, beauty and inspiration, Modeliste has been fortunate to have such extraordinary women grace the pages of our magazine. The idea for our Rising Stars Issue came to me as we recently hosted an Influencer trip in Aruba. Pros in capturing and captivating an audience, creating lustrous images, these Influencers showcase their individual sense of style with creativity and artistry. Their images play a huge part in making us all love fashion and wanting the clothes for ourselves. These Influencers are not only beautiful but know how to work clothes and showcase products in a unique and engaging manner. Creative artists themselves, their sense of style encourages us to enjoy photography and the journey they have embarked upon. So… I thought that it would be interesting for us to put together an issue of the magazine which showcases these social stars through what they truly wear and through a more “real” filter. All of us here at Modeliste would like to wish our readers a very happy holiday season and New Year filled with peace, love, laughter and adventure.

Q&A with ZENDAYA It’s been a year since Zendaya graced the cover of Modeliste, and our rising star has taken the world by storm and has risen to the highest ranks of stardom. A true fashion icon, Zendaya embodies a constantly evolving, yet always on-point sense of style. With a major lead role as Mary Jane in the upcoming Spider Man movie, the fresh face of Cover Girl, Zendaya has also added Fashion Designer to her resume with a new clothing line, Daya, a collaboration with sensational celebrity stylist, Law Roach. In 3 words: describe your blog/ social channels? Narcissistic self-portraits What makes your blog and social channels a go-to for all fashion and beauty- savvy girls. I love experimenting with makeup and fashion-- and if I happen to get something right like a cool outfit or fun makeup idea I want to share the knowledge! What inspired you to create a blog? How did you begin? I don’t have a blog actually, I just have my socials and I hosted for a fashion web series called The Fashion Statement produced by Disney’s Maker Studios. That happened via auditioning-- I showed up, they didn’t hate me, and fast forward a couple years and here I am! My social media outlets followed shortly after. What has been your greatest achievement or “ah-ha!” moment with your blog/ social channels? When I started making silly videos for my own amusement. I realized that if I can poke fun at myself, then hopefully other people can see that fashion and beauty isn’t all perfect photoshopped
images, and in the process something that personally brings me entertainment actually leaves a big impression on other people too. People seem to love my weird videos! What elements do you think create an engaging IG feed? I think as long as you have everything in moderation-- consistent posts (without posting 20 times a day), interesting photos of different subjects (outfits, selfies, accessories, nights out, etc.), and a sense of humor. Any favorites you personally love to follow? I actually love looking at my friends’ feeds, I tend to be biased towards people I know in real life versus pages that I have no personal connection to haha. So my family, best friends, etc. How would you describe your personal style? Depending on the day it’s usually a mixture of: chill streetwear, chic glam, and ratchet club vibes. What types of posts do you think create the most engagement? I think it speaks for itself-- images that are interesting to look at (for me
personally it’s been outfits and makeup selfies) and funny videos! Boomerangs are also fun-- everyone loves a Boomerang! What are a few of your go to tips for dressing fabulous and warm during the winter months and holiday season? LAYERS. I love layers. And especially in the holiday season I love me all the glitter and tinsel and jewel tones. What you’re looking forward to wearing most this season? All my Christmas clothes, Christmas is my favorite holiday haha! Current handbag? A black faux leather backpack I got from eBay that is currently falling apart because I danced too hard in Aruba. I feel that I stick to a theme of neutrals and wear pieces with different looks to help my readers see how I style each item I wear. The pieces I wear are affordable which impacts my readers in a positive way. What inspired you to create a blog? How did you begin? I started almost 2 years ago and I started by posting my outfit of the day to instagram and as others started liking then I would post daily and with time you grow and improve with your content. What has been your greatest achievement or “ah-ha!” moment with your blog/ social channels? I feel that my greatest achievement so far has been being able to do this full time and turn my dream and passion into a career. What elements do you think create an engaging IG feed? I feel that using one filter on every photo and curating your feed to match with a theme makes a huge difference to a reader's eye. Any favorites you personally love to follow? When you look at my blog or Instagram, it’s easy to gage my personal style which fuses edge and a city off-duty look – I call it a dark edge to feminine dressing. Some girls may relate to my wardrobe, whereas others may not, but ultimately I want to relay the message to wear what you want and wear what feels most honest to you. There is no right or wrong. Also, I want it to serve as a page of inspiration where one really utilizes their wardrobe for self-expression. Feel like a badass and dress like a badass. What inspired you to create a blog? How did you begin? I have always loved to dress myself- I looked forward to it in the morning, piecing together my look for the day. My threads tell a story, my story. I have always been a creative individual. I studied theatre and film in college with an emphasis on costume design. I loved storytelling through clothes and embodying personalities and bringing characters to life through clothing. This was a segway into blogging since I was able to produce creative content and a visual story through clothing, but this time it was about myself. My first platform as Instagram in 2014 then I launched my blog soon thereafter. What has been your greatest achievement or “ah-ha!” moment with your blog/ social channels? That is a tricky one to pinpoint. So much has happened since I first launched my blog and it has opened so many different doors for me. I count every single one as a blessing and each “ah-ha” moment pushes me harder towards the next one. I think it’s amazing when you get to work with the brands you’ve always admired. What elements do you think create an engaging IG feed? Consistency in personal style and a general theme. Of course diverse content is important, I try to toss in some food & architecture photos in the mix once in awhile. But for me, the feeds are admire are one’s with a genuine sense of personality and individual style. Also, inevitably one’s that are pleasing to the eye. A strong string of creative content.

How would you describe your personal style? Ellen V Lora: Off-duty city look, an Alexander Wang femme fatale, hoarder of black leather goods, edgy, experimental, bad, unisex at times, also, dark but feminine. Sometimes I’m a walking contradiction.
Favorite App on your phone. Instagram or Spotify Most used filter? The A’s in the VSCO family. Most played song on itunes. Either a song by The Weeknd or The 1975. Favorite way to end the day. Lighting candles and listening to music. Favorite travel spot. London or Paris.

What are a few of your go to tips for dressing fabulous and warm during the winter months and holiday season? Get yourself a solid moto leather jacket. My two favorites I alternate between are my Kooples & All Saints jackets. Some leather or suede booties. A beanie or beret, I just got a pierced beret in Korea that I’m obsessed with.
What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects we can be on the lookout for? I just got back from Barcelona and shot a very cool project with L’Oreal hair set to launch in early 2017!
What you’re looking forward to wearing most this season? Black clothing. I kid, but not really. Looking forward to heavy, oversized knits. Fall textures like suede, cashmere, corduroy and leather. Faux fur! I love faux fur and I’m ecstatic that it’s that short time of the year we can bring out the faux furs in LA. I’m also really the unisex silhouette lately. Lot’s of elongated sleeves, boxy culottes and longer hems. Current handbag? I’ve been alternating between an old Kenzo bag and a Strathberry bag, both in the color red. What item can’t you live without when heading to a holiday soirée? A clutch or little side bag to hold my lipstick.

What’s one thing you would like your fans to know about you? That I want to give them all virtual hugs. What did you love most about the Modeliste trip to Aruba? Getting served dinner in bed at the Screaming Eagle, then going major off-roading on the rockiest road. I discovering this amazing dish called the grouper fish and swam in the most relaxing and calm sea at sunset. After checking out Erica Maree and snatching one of her locally hand crafted bags just a block away is a traveler's well kept secret eatery. El Patio de mi Casa is a tucked away restaurant that is a great place to grab a drink and enjoy some tapas or their specialty, woodfired pizza.
Delving further into PV, take the little foot bridge at the east end of Calle Matamoros to the island splitting the Rîo Cuale and weave through the ancient trees to Isla Cuale Flea Market. Open most days from around 9am to 9pm, this is authentic open-air market shopping at its finest. From random trinkets, to leather good, fresh made tapas, and PV souvenirs you can spend hours browsing handmade goods. Vendors set their stalls up intertwined between the trees and display their handmade trinkets, fresh baked good. and sometimes artists are out painting or sculpting on the spot! Continue over to the other side of the river to Viejo Vallarta also known as the Romantic zone. Venture down Tepic where you will find handmade leather shoes, art galleries, and other studios selling Mexican handcrafted goods! Be sure to also walk down Basilio Badillo for more art galleries, craft coffee shops, and more native Mexican crafts. If the authentic open-air markets and street exploration is not for you then head to Puerto Vallarta's largest shopping mall! On the other end of Puerto Vallarta, closer to the airport, is the one of the larger shopping malls in the area. Galerias Vallarta hosts international brands and well know Mexican favorites a gym and a movie theater. French favorite Lacoste and surf-style giant Quicksilver are present in this shopping center. Along this stretch of PV, known as the hotel zone, you will find wholesale retail chains like Sam's Club and Walmart. Just because you're jetting out of town when the Holidays arrive (and ditching your regular workout routine), doesn't mean you have to let all that hard work go to waste. Modeliste caught up with renowned fitness trainer, Billy Richards, in the stunning resort town of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico who shared his go-to travelfriendly moves that you can do while you relax pool or beachside, or even while still in your hotel room. These simple exercise moves won't make you feel like you're doing much work at all. As a personal trainer, when I go away on vacation, I find it important to still maintain a level of fitness. Recently I went to Hotel Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta, MĂŠxico. It was a great chance to relax. Some of the activities I took part in were a Sea Turtle release, day on the beach, I visited some of the local markets, had the opportunity to see how tequila was made in the papaya fields, and also went snorkeling off of a yacht. In between these activities, I needed to find ways to keep up with my workouts in order to maintain my level of fitness. Puerto Vallarta had plenty of places to go running. The neighborhood's had hills for high intensity cardio, and a long shorefront to go for a light jog. I also got a chance to go for a short run in the fields on a break during the tequila tour. At the hotel itself there was enough equipment to get in a full body workout- such as dumbbells and at least one machine for every major muscle group, elliptical machines and treadmills.
