Mainstreaming Opportunities Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to register for programs. A general program/ activity may be adapted by using auxiliary aids and services, but the structure of the activity, group size, and participant to staff ration remain the same. Companions provide assistance to facilitate the inclusion of individuals with disabilities. Most are trained volunteers who will facilitate participation and integration into the program. Companions do not provide personal care. Placements are limited, and are not guaranteed, so early notification is essential. Please call 240-777-6870, TTY 240-777-6974, for more information and/or to request a companion. rec.mainstream@montgomerycountymd.gov
