1/14 Eagle Watching at Conowingo Dam

Conowingo Dam in Harford County is a terrific area to observe bald eagles. Travel by van with a park naturalist to enjoy a day of bird watching along the Susquehanna River. Dress in layers for the weather, and bring a bagged lunch. Binoculars and viewing scopes provided, but feel free to bring your own. Ages: 18 & Up. 1/18 Winter Birding at Black Hill

Discover amazing winter birding just minutes from I-270! Do goldeneyes, tundra swans, and coots sound intriguing? Come check them out with an expert guide. We’ll start at the Visitor Center then travel by car to other observation areas around the park. Bring your own binoculars if you have them; spotting scopes will be provided. Dress for the weather. 1/18 Nature Makerspace: Recycled Art Wall

Are you creative? Do you want to build things with and inspired by nature? Come make a large art wall from recycled materials that will be on display in the visitor center until the end of January. Participants will work as a group and assemble a design with everything from egg cartons, old CD’s, newspapers, etc. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little paint on. 1/21 Time for Tots: “Here Come Jack Frost”

1/23 Babes in a Backpack

Let’s go outside and hike together to improve fitness, make new friends, and experience the great outdoors. These hikes are designed for adults with young children. Most trails are not stroller accessible, so you’ll need a backpack or carrier for younger kids and nonwalkers. Please register no later than 24 hours before the hike so we can contact you with the hike’s location and other important information. Please register everyone; only adults pay. Ages: All Ages. 1/23 Homeschool: Primitive Skills and Forest Trills

Come join us for a woodland adventure full of primitive skills and woodland play. Each month we will cover a new primitive skill or give you a chance to practice an old one. We will also have time, space, and materials for unstructured play in the woods around our campfire circle. Students will be able to self-select what they would like to focus on from the activities provided. We will meet at the campfire circle near picnic shelter F. Ages: 5-15yrs. 1/24 Wild Child Hike

This isn’t your average walk in the woods. Scamper like a squirrel, balance like a billy goat, and run like a rabbit through the park. We’ll be on and off the trail as we go on a hiking adventure. Wear shoes and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Be sure to sign up 24 hours ahead so we can contact you with the meeting location. Ages: 4-12yrs. 1/25 Nature Architects

Erect a tower, build a boat, make a mud pie...it’s time to let your inner architect out! We’ll venture into different park habitats to design and construct things using natural objects and materials. What we do will depend on the weather and the things we can find. But no matter what we do, come dressed for the weather and ready to get dirty. Ages: 3-12yrs. 1/25 Nature Artists

Set your inner nature artist free! We’ll go on a short hike to get inspired by nature, maybe collecting some things along the way. Then it’s back to the Visitor Center to get creative with natural materials. Register only those planning to create projects. Ages: 3 & Up.
