1/8 Friday Foray - Lake Needwood
Hiking in winter is a special treat. The woods are quiet, the trees bare, the sky often moody, and the ground hard. We meet winter on its own terms and discover its beauty restrained yet extraordinary. Our hikes in December and January will take us by streams and lakes so that we can admire how cold transforms water. We will walk on natural surface trails for 2 - 3 miles, at a leisurely pace, pointing out and sharing our observations and learning about the natural and cultural histories of the area. Directions to the trailhead are emailed to all registered hikers and registration closes the Wednesday immediately prior to the hike. Face coverings and physical distancing are required.
