INTRO TO GRAPHIC DESIGN

ANIMATE MY STORY IN SCRATCH

Ages 8-12 Children learn basic coding principles by developing and coding a story of their own design. Throughout this course, kids will apply their understanding of algorithms and programming and illustrate a personal story in a sequential manner. Even Pixar will be impressed with the final creations! Instructor: Boolean Girl Walter Johnson High School R05106-411 6/27-7/1 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $316 R05106-415 7/18-7/22 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $395

EXPLORE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE USING SCRATCH

Ages 12-15 Robots! Smartphones! Self-driving cars! What is artificial intelligence and how does it affect your everyday life? In this course, our coders will use Scratch to build a basic rule-based AI chatbot. In the process of building their projects, students will learn what AI is, play with real AI tools, identify the ways in which they are already interacting with AI, and explore the origins and history of artificial intelligence. By the end of this course, coders will be able to demonstrate and explain how computers mimic human intelligence by making “smart” decisions. Instructor: Boolean Girl Walter Johnson High School R05106-412 6/27-7/1 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $316 R05106-416 7/18-7/22 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $395

Ages 8-12 In this class your young developer will bring their coding to the next level, creating a “Code Your Own Adventure” program. Each student will be challenged to design and develop an interactive adventure, inspired by their own lives, in which a player’s choices determine the path their adventure takes. Building upon the coding skills covered in the “My Story” Boolean Girl course, students will learn more advanced coding techniques. By the end of this class, students will be one step closer to becoming video game designers! SCRATCH CIRCUITS

Ages 12-15 This camp sits at the crossroads of programming and electrical engineering. If your programmer thinks coding is cool, they will love how they can write code to control physical objects like lights, Lego® motors, and motion sensors to create robots, music players, and light shows. Frequently called Physical Computing, this is the intersection of technologies that drive smart cities, smart homes, our appliances and so much more. Instructor: Boolean Girl Walter Johnson High School R05106-414 7/11-7/15 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $395 R05106-418 7/25-7/29 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $395
