There were 39 students in attendance ages 11-15. To participate, students obtain and study the safety information on the interactive online course at their own pace in the comfort of their own home under the guidance of a parent or guardian. Once they complete the online course, they register for the Snowmobile Safety Class. The one-day class includes classroom review of priority safety information and a performance driving course.
The class was led by approximately seven trained volunteer instructors and club members, and a local conservation officer from the MNDNR. Once the students successfully completed the class and reach age 12, they obtain their Snowmobile Safety Certificate, which is required by law for residents born after December 31, 1976.
Get out and enjoy Minnesota’s vast trail network! There are over 22,000 miles of groomed snowmobile trails, with over 21,000 miles maintained by local snowmobile clubs.
