Geography / Habitat: Asia: India and Bangladesh. Inhabits pools, ditches, inundated fields, ponds and beels. Occurs in rivers and lakes with vegetation. Life Strategy: The honey gourami is a bubble nest builder that uses plants to help bind together the bubbles. The eggs hatch after 2 days and the fry become free swimming 3 days later. The male will guard the nest until the fry become free swimming. Food / Feed Strategy: This species is an omnivore, and will eat insects off the surface of the water, or floating plant parts.
