Alliance for a Healthier Generation The Alliance for a Healthier Generation was founded by the American Heart Association and the Clinton Initiative to create healthier environments.11 Each year, they host a Leaders Summit to celebrate schools around the nation that have met the Healthy Schools Program benchmarks, including improved nutrition and physical and health education. In 2009, the Healthy School Program began working with the UME FSNE program to promote shared messages and healthier options for PGCPS.12 By the 2014–2015 school year, numerous schools in PGCPS had signed up for the challenge, and 24 were acknowledged with bronze or silver National Recognition Awards, listed in the table below.13
