How is the course structured? Context and goals: “Going green” is a global educational interest for schools, how to make it happen and not just remain an empty slogan? How to bring more nature into our lives and into our educational practice?

Format: in-campus intensive, in a natural surrounding or urban venue. Duration: Five-day course. Five hours per day. Overall pedagogical aims: •
Increasing one’s own awareness about Nature Deficit Disorder in self, others, and day-to-day settings.
•
Gaining awareness on one’s own Biophilia / Biophobia spectrum.
•
Acquiring tools to transform syllabi, educational environment and personal life, based on inviting nature into them.
The course comprehends five five-hour sessions that offer hands-on practical knowledge. Some of them will take place in the very city of Barcelona while others in our venue in the “Parc de Collserola” itself. A detailed program and contents will be facilitated to participants upon their arrival to the venue.
Competencies and skills to be developed •
Identifying by means of hands-on experiences various skills and competencies related to naturalistic intelligence.

Redesigning classroom and syllabi objectives with the aim of including Nature in all subject matters.

How to showcase and foster nature in an urban setting? Identifying the values that need to be developed in order to make it happen.

Designing and planning activities in the wild in order to increase Biophilia while mobilizing all our intelligences.

Planning and presenting one’s own Biophilia-enhancing activity designed in views of transforming your own educational environment.

environmental education The “Jardí Botànic” (Botanical Garden) on the hill of Montjuïc in Barcelona
will be shared as well as we go. The main focus will be to learn by doing and
experiencing. We will plan about how to bring in more nature into syllabi by reflecting on Naturalistic intelligence-oriented syllabi. Contact with other experts and various institutions will be essential as well in order to understand how urban natural spaces work and are managed in Barcelona. A diversity of online / printed materials will be delivered and a manual will be created and sent after the course’s completion to all participants. The aim of it all will be for you to be able to get inspired and to inspire others in order to increase our Biophilia levels… ready? Day 1. We’ll meet at the very centre of the city (Plaça de Catalunya) and move from there to Vallvidrera, in the very heart of the “Parc Natural de Collserola”, which features an amphibian protected area. We’ll have some ice-breakers and first open-air exercises to get to know each other and to start getting acquainted with the local environment and move to a venue in the “Parc de Collserola” for in-door group activities. Day 2. We’ll meet at “Plaça Catalunya” in Barcelona’s for going from the Tibidabo Area, on the top of Barcelona until Sant Cugat, for knowing humanized landscapes and crash with wildlife around the world and how to connect educational themes to build transversal projects.
Day 3. We’ll visit the Natural Park of Montserrat Mountain and try and ascertain the pedagogical possibilities of the Multiple Intelligence system to class planning and cross-subject projects. The Humanized landscape, nature and spirituality components of bringing nature into our syllabi will find here many opportunities of transversal project designing. Day 4. Our venue today will be the “Parc del Laberint”, a beautiful historical garden with extremely high biodiversity… humanized nature or nature-occupied human space? Where is nature...? The philosophical element will appear here and we’ll identify some of the major trends of thought about urban ecology and in connection with “Green Pedagogy”. We will start preparations towards small group projects based on Design Thinking, the Multiple Intelligence System and our individual choice of subjects to prepare presentations for the next day. Day 5. We will finish in one of the most emblematic places and with educational resources that exist in the city, Parc Güell. For our final session of group presentations, closure of the course, and certificate delivery we will do an especial last session in a public park with gardens and architectural elements located in the upper part of the city of Barcelona.
