ERASMUS + EFECTIVE PARENTS AND TEACHERS RELATIONSHIPS: SHARING SOLUTIONS ON THE GO Context and goals: Educators and parents generally agree that positive, supportive and open relationships between home and school, parents and teacher are desirable. All too often, parents and teachers find themselves embroiled in disagreements about how best to help children. Children are always winners when teachers and parents work together effectively. Having clear that this partnership will insure that problems can be addressed quickly and that the needs of parents, school personnel and students are reflected in any decision-making process, how we can make it possible? What kind of agreements should be applied to do so? What resources, tools and ideas can be used? The first step is to create the environment where the youngsters feel safe and they can develop their skills and gain knowledge while surrounded by supportive and integrated community, where parents and teachers work together and share solutions on the go. But, what can happen if this relationship isn’t such positive? Learning to deal with the absenteeism to avoid early school leaving is an important learning aspect. Go in it!! Format: in-campus intensive. Duration: Five-day course. Four hours per day. Overall pedagogical aims: The main objective of the theoretical and practical course is to prepare participants to work effectively with:       

Identifying the incidents and consequences of parents and teachers’ conflicts. Learn how to create a positive and safe school environment. To contribute to create an emotionally intelligent school environment How to stablish a relationship of mutual respect and appreciation To learn how to manage the stressful and conflict situations Managing feelings and conflicts by focusing on solutions Introducing pedagogical approaches to deal with the absenteeism to avoid early school leaving

Target audience: The participants are: teachers, adult trainers, or active members in the sending organizations interested in the essential skills, knowledge and competencies required to developing a Positive Partnership focused on the benefit for students and creating a positive school climate and a culture of mutual respect and appreciation.


Basic modules’ description: Module 1: Parents and Teachers  Roles and goals of parents and teachers in educational system  Different Forms of stereotypes and prejudice: how to recognize them  Parent and Teachers Advocacy Module 2: Family Involvement Importance of Family Involvement Facilitating Family Involvement Developing a Positive Partnership Parental Perspective Suggestions for Improving Family Involvement

Module 3: Dealing with Conflict Absenteeism and ESL: what can we do? Creating a positive school climate Effective Communication: The Key to Building Positive Relationship Applying emotional intelligence Conflict Prevention Strategies The Role of Active Listening

     

Module 4: Defining relaxation and meditation for Educators & Students The power of Body Language and Relaxation Techniques in school context Meditation for kids and relaxing the tensions: implementing techniques in classroom

By the end of the course participants will:      

Identify the conflict parents-teachers cases and react accordingly to the situation Identify strategies that will change the dynamic and move the situation forward Understand what works and how to adapt strategies to move towards success Create a positive climate in the classroom and school using the holistic approach of parents and teachers Cooperating with teachers as well as with students and parents Roleplaying pedagogical approaches to deal with the absenteeism situations
