What better way to wrap up the school year than to celebrate a year of hard work and high achievements? Mount Morgan Central did just this last Wednesday; acknowledging and congratulating students on a successful year of academic and sporting accomplishments at the 2012 Awards Day. Held at the Mount Morgan Central State School, the morning saw staff, students, families and community members join together in recognising the exceptional achievements of Mount Morgan Central and its students throughout the 2012 education year. The morning announced the high achievers of each year level, honouring students with Academic Awards. The 2012 Academic Awards were presented to: Arianne Murray, Nara Freeman, Isra Tschirpig, Jacob Sealy, Alexander Connolly, Cody Brown, Harrison Donald, MaryRose Donald-Nord and Lane Evans. The ceremony also saw the presenting of Academic Achievement Awards, Merit Awards for Academic Achievement, Citizenship, Arts/Cultural, and Most Improved. Along with the top Academic Awards, a number of individual special awards were also presented as part of the morning, with some including: the Mt Morgan CWA Most Improved Year 6 Student – presented to Janaya Bray and the Year 6 RSL All Rounder Award – presented to Carla-Delle WilkesHayden. Awards specific to Year 7s were also presented; including: The Ted Malone Best Trier Award – presented to Brodie Tremaine, The Caves & District Lions Club Citizenship Award- presented to Marissa Hixon,The P&C Persistence and Effort Awardpresented to Kayla Fitzpatrick, The Commonwealth Bank Sportsperson of the Year Award- presented to Corrina Gasler and The Michael Robinson Memorial Academic Achievement Award – presented to Maddison Mackay. A number of Sports Awards were also presented on the morning, acknowledging the impressive efforts of the students in junior and senior cricket, T-ball, softball, rugby league, soccer, basketball and netball. Awards included the Most Valuable, Most Improved and Most Consistent Players and the Coaches Award for Never Giving Up. Congratulations to all award recipients on the morning.
