Introduction
agents have faced disappointment and loss. The history of race in the United States (and other countries), like the history of the United States itself, is not a happily ever after story. But neither is it a story doomed to failure. We can, as a country and as elders, get better, and we believe that, as in times of old, the little children shall lead. We close the book with a call to fulfill our responsibilities as students, teachers, and citizens. We are committed to it.
