"I found my true love at a blue-light special at a K-Mart discount store," sang Dean Michael Woldt as he entertained the Snow Carnival masses while picking away at his guitar and playing his harmonica - at the same time. none-the-less! Our new dean is one of many talents. He enjoys the outdoors - skiing (downhill and cross-country), gardening, camping, and golfing. On occasion. Oean Woldt can be found playing wiffle ball with his wife Elizabeth in their yard; sometimes they even let their kids play! But when our sources saw them, there were no kids in sight. Dean Woldt arrived on our campus just before Christmas from Christ Lutheran Church in Oakley, Michigan where he had served as Pastor since 1983. But his official duties as Dean of Students didn't start until he was installed on January 16, 1989. Originally from Milwaukee. Dean openly admits that he is a fan of the Green Bay Packers. He graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1972 and went on to Northwestern College and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. From 1981-1983, he served as a graduate tutor at Northwestern College before accepting his call to Oakley. He was married in 1983 to Elizabeth Fricke. They now have three adorable children: Joseph 4. Jacob 3. and Amanda 1. The Woldt family. although still in the adjustment stages. likes New Ulm and all of the DMLC activities. When asked why he took the call. Dean said he enjoys working with the students and helping them through the ups and downs of their college career. He also enjoys teaching New Testament History. Dean Woldt's one major goal while he is part of the DMLC family is "to instill a love for the public ministry - not only teaching, but also witnessing." We entend a warm welcome to our new d~an and his family. It is our wish. Dean Woldt. that we do not cause you to get gray hair!
