2821 Ecclesiastical Latin 3 credits. Selections from the Latin literature of the church, with emphasis on the writings of Lutheran theologians. Translation and discussion. Prerequisite: 2803 or its equivalent.
Spanish All courses are taught in Spanish. 2915 Elementary Spanish I 4 credits. An introduction to the Spanish language and Hispanic culture, with an emphasis on listening and speaking and the development of reading and writing skills. (4 hours + l-hour language lab)
2916 Elementary Spanish II 4 credits. Continuation of 2915. Prerequisite: 2915 or its equivalent. (4 hours + l-hour language lab).
2917 Intermediate
Spanish I
3 credits. A transition into the intermediate proficiency level. Students work with Spanish in a creative and meaningful way both in oral and writren form. Prerequisite: 2916 or minimum of two years of high school Spanish and the placement exam. (3 hours + l-hour language lab).
2919 Intermediate
Spanish II
3 credits. Continuation of 2917 with special emphasis on the reading process as it contributes to overall language development. Prerequisite: 2917 or its equivalent.
2927 Spanish for Spoken and Written Communication 3 credits. Reading and discussion of a variety of texts and short stories and the development of writing proficiency. Prerequisite: 2919 or its equivalent or consent of instructor.

2929 Communicating Spanish
Christ in
3 credits. A specialized intermediate language course working with Spanish language materials that equip the student for ministry to the Latino community. Students work with adult information courses, evangelism programs, and small group Bible studies as well as VBS and devotional materials. Prerequisite: 2917 (SPaM), 2927 (SEM). (3 hours + l-hour language lab).
2933 Latin-American Culture and Civilization 3 credits. A reading and discussion-based course about Latin-American culture and civilization. Prerequisites: 2927 and 2929 or their equivalents.
2938 Spanish and Latin American Literature 3 credits. A survey of common themes and the development of Spanish and Latin-American literature from the fifteenth through the twentieth century. Prerequisites: 2927 and 2929 or their equivalents.
2944 Advanced Spanish Conversation 3 credits. An advanced level course with an emphasis on current events and issues. Prerequisite: 2933 or 2938.
2947 Selected Topics in Spanish I 3 credits. An advanced level grammar class with special emphasis on the linguistic logic underlying the Spanish language. A required course for Spanish majors. Prerequisite: 2944 or consent of instructor.
