POSITIVO INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL E A CERTIFICAÇÃO LEED NÍVEL OURO

A conquista da certificação LEED é fruto de uma série de exigências que compõem a edificação do colégio, desde a construção, manutenção e uso propriamente dito, até o impacto no entorno.

O Positivo International School é o primeiro edifício do Brasil a receber a certificação ambiental Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) nível ouro.

Projetado pelo escritório de arquitetura Manoel Coelho e construído de acordo com os critérios de green building, o edifício prevê a redução de 45% do consumo de água potável e de 74% do consumo de energia elétrica em comparação com escolas do mesmo porte, devido à adoção de sistemas inteligentes, como a dimerização, que ajusta a iluminação conforme a entrada da luz natural.

Nas torneiras, por exemplo, foram instalados arejadores, que misturam ar e água, para reduzir a vazão, o que pode diminuir em até 88% o consumo de água. Outra solução inovadora é o controle de temperatura, que dispensa o uso de ar-condicionado por conta das paredes mais pesadas, telhado branco e sistema de ventilação natural cruzada nas salas de aula. Dessa forma, atingiu-se uma redução de 44% no gasto de energia. Em prol do conforto, a instituição também encontrou uma forma de aquecer o ambiente com o uso da água da chuva, que é esquentada e passa por um circuito fechado sem agredir o ecossistema, entre outras soluções.

Adotado em 143 países, o sistema LEED oferece quatro níveis de certificação de acordo com os resultados obtidos pela edificação em termos de otimização de recursos e conforto. As dimensões avaliadas são: espaço sustentável; eficiência do uso da água; energia e atmosfera; materiais e recursos; qualidade ambiental interna; e inovação e processos.

Positivo International School And The Gold Level Leed Certification

Positivo International School is the first building in Brazil to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold level environmental certification. Obtaining LEED certification is the result of a series of requirements that comprise the building of the school from its construction, maintenance and use itself, in addition to it’s impacts on the surroundings.

Designed by the architectural firm Manoel Coelho and built in accordance with green building criteria, the building is expected to reduce drinking water consumption by 45% and electricity consumption by 74% compared to schools of the same size due to the adoption of intelligent systems, such as dimming, which adjusts lighting according to the entry of natural light. At the taps, for example, aerators were installed, which mix air and water to reduce the flow, which can reduce water consumption by up to 88%. Another innovative solution is temperature control, which dispenses with the use of air conditioning due to heavier walls, a white roof and a system of natural cross ventilation in the classrooms. Thus, a 44% reduction in energy expenditure was achieved. On behalf of comfort, the institution also found a way to heat the environment with the use of rainwater, which is heated and passes through a closed circuit without harming the ecosystem, among other solutions.

Adopted in 143 countries, the LEED system offers four levels of certification according to the results obtained by the building in terms of optimization of resources and comfort. The dimensions assessed are: sustainable space; water use efficiency; energy and atmosphere; materials and resources; internal environmental quality; and innovation and processes.

A ideia do projeto foi da estudante do Positivo International School, Helena Giotto, que pensou em uma forma de ajudar o meio ambiente após ler a frase “Como nossa escola pode reduzir o impacto ambiental?” no mural do colégio. Todo o material coletado é encaminhado para o processo de reciclagem, virando matéria-prima a ser vendida para a fabricação de outros produtos.

Toda a receita arrecadada com a comercialização é destinada a projetos socioambientais e, desde o início do projeto em 2018, a iniciativa já garantiu a destinação correta de mais de 40 toneladas de livros didáticos usados.

The ideia of the project came from a student of Positivo International School, Helena Giotto, who thought of a way to help the environment after reading the sentence “How can our school reduce its environmental impact?” on the school mural. All the collected material is sent to the recycling process, becoming raw material to be sold for the manufacture of other products.

All revenue raised from sales is allocated to socio-environmental projects and, since the beggining of the project, in 2018, the initiative has ensured the proper disposal of more than 40 tons of used textbooks.
