Don't ever let it be said that one missing piece of the puzzle will not have a dramatic effect on your desired outcome. In my professional experience as a highly paid resume writer, the most overlooked piece that has the potential to make or break your resume package is the Resume Cover Letter! Since it IS the first thing a hiring manager will read about you, its impact should be immediate, memorable and action producing (a call for the interview). Since I can't help everyone personally on a one to one ratio here is an easy to remember method that will help you to keep the basics in mind. I like to refer to it as the ABC Method of Cover Letter Writing. W rite Cover Letter s - "The ABC Method" Get these three things down pat and you will be well on your way to doing a cover letter the correct way! A -"A" is for Ask! You would be surprised when I review cover letters for people, that many just don't even bother being forthright and Asking for the interview. You know the saying "Ask and you shall receive." Don't ever let the Hiring Manager forget what it is you want them to do next. As silly as it sounds, a little direction can go a long way. B - "B" is for Brief! Whatever you do, now is not the time to go being long winded especially if you don't know about the things if said, can kill your chances for an interview. Remain focused on one thing, getting the interview and demonstrating to the potential employer that you fully understand all about the company and what their specific goals are. You want the fact that you are the solution to their hiring needs to be the most important thing on their mind! C - "C" is for Clarity! Once again you need to be focused and understand your job, your cover letter's job is to get your foot in the door. Do not think for a second that anyone wants to waste their precious time reading on and on about irrelevant things. Just get the interview!
