Meet our Judges

Chris Maples

Chris Maples is the former president of Oregon Institute of Technology. He subsequently served as the interim chancellor for Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri, and the interim president for the Pacific Northwest College of Art. He also is a former board member of the Miss Oregon Scholarship Foundation. With an academic background in geology and paleontology, Dr. Maples has traveled extensively for research and teaching prior to serving in academic administration. It was during his time at Oregon Tech that he became involved in the Miss Klamath County-Miss City of Sunshine competition. Chris’ spouse, Sara Marcus, has judged local competitions previously, and was able to give him sage advice and guidance for this, his first foray into judging, despite his well-educated and accomplished background.

Candy Gibson

Candy was Miss City of Sunshine 2001, and from there, joined the US Coast Guard in 2004 where she spent six years serving her country. She was then able to use her GI Bill to obtain her bachelors degree in Human Resource Management. She has two children Izzy, 12 and Beau, six. Currently she is the chief of staff for the CEO for a major healthcare company in California. In the little amount of spare time she does have you will find her at her children’s many extracurricular activities, and volunteering at their school.

Nicolas Odeh

Nick is a proud Klamath Union alumni and Oregon Tech graduate. Though he lives in the Seattle suburbs with his wife and 2 daughters, he will forever call Klamath Falls home. He graduated with degrees in both entrepreneurship and marketing from Oregon Tech, and currently works as a program manager at a startup. Prior to living the "boring, suburban dad life," and worrying about his dog getting into his veggie garden, Nick volunteered as both a 2nd grade, and high school youth minister at his local church, volunteered with DECA chapters (because he insists he peaked in high school), and has worked with the Miss Klamath County/City of Sunshine program in 2010, 2011 and 2017.
