Miss Klamath County- Anna Edwards

Sometimes the best decisions are the ones made on a whim My favorite spontaneous decision was deciding, at the very last minute, to compete in the Miss Klamath County/City of Sunshine Scholarship program. Let me tell you, the last thing I expected was to be crowned as Miss Klamath County 2022!

I dedicated this past year of service as my farewell to Klamath Falls, as I will continue my education at Oregon State’s School of Pharmacy in the fall of 2023 My hometown community helped me develop into the young woman I am today, and I wanted to show my appreciation through service One of my favorite volunteer moments happened at the 2022 Klamath County Fair. I walked into the bunny barn to hang out with and assist the 4-H kids Instantly, I was surrounded by kids bringing me their animals and telling me all about them Of course, over the next two hours, I held every animal and told the kids how impressed I was! Moments like that are why I fell in love with volunteering and making connections in the community

One of the parts I am most grateful for this year is the genuine friendships it brought me. Annikah, my teen, is the sweetest, most bubbly, and hungry girl I know. My favorite memory with her happened while we volunteered at a golf tournament benefiting Children’s Miracle Network This was the first time she had driven a golf cart, which was on her bucket list Don’t worry, she was a natural! She only hit a few bumps and puddles along the way, but that didn’t stop her from having the biggest smile on her face I love you Annikah Never stop being yourself and keep lifting others up with your kindness! Melanie, you put the sunshine in Miss City of Sunshine’s Outstanding Teen! You always radiate happiness and let your positivity shine into the lives of others I love you and am excited to see what the future brings you! Thank you for being the most amazing teen my best friend could ask for

Oh, I haven’t introduced my best friend? Allyssa, Miss City of Sunshine 2022, I am beyond lucky this organization made our paths cross I will always be in awe of your poise, determination, beauty, and success. I am so proud of you and everything you have accomplished Thank you for being the yin to my yang, feeding me the most delicious vegan snacks, and always being someone I can turn to One of my favorite memories with you happened after our Fourth of July Firecracker event I drove you home and we sat parked in your driveway for HOURS just talking Another memory I love is when we wore the same pair of sparkly heels, because I owned two different sizes, to the Klamath County Chamber of Commerce. I accidentally gave each of us one size 9 heel and one size 8 heel, and I didn’t even notice! I love looking back on the memories we share and can’t wait for the future adventures we’ll have You are my sunshine and I love you for all that you are

There is so much I have learned and gained from my year of service I’ve learned how to become more involved in any community and how I can make a difference through my social impact. I’ve become aware of my self worth while developing my confidence and independence I gained so much support and love from my board, sister queens, and all of my friends I competed with at Miss Oregon

Sometimes I look back and think to myself, “where would I be who would I be if I hadn’t given this organization a chance?” So, I encourage everyone to be spontaneous and open to change and uncertainty As I take off my crown for the last time this year, I remember that the best things in life are spontaneous because they are sincere
