CIT’s English courses are offered to all language levels from beginner to advanced and cover a wide range of skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening and study skills.

At the higher levels students will also learn the language and study skills they need for further study in Australia. All levels include social and conversational English as these are important in any social, professional or educational context.

Our teachers are university trained English specialists. They help you to learn quickly, whatever your English level. Many of our teachers have also taught overseas which helps them understand the needs of our international students. Our courses cover all language levels from beginner to advanced. You will be placed in the level that best meets your learning needs, where you can develop your English skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening and study skills. When you finish your English course, you can continue your studies in Australia, at CIT or at University.

Students also develop confidence in using English through experiencing the Australian culture.

Students will be assessed using both formal and informal methods. These include observation of role-plays and pair work, interviews, presentations, practical exercises, portfolios of written work, written tests, reports and observation of group and class work. Assessment tasks will be contextualised and realistic.

Overview The Certificate IV in Spoken and Written English (Further Studies) prepares students for study at a university in Australia. It provides specialised English Language preparation which covers all aspects of reading, writing, speaking and listening in English at a level that will enable students to study effectively at university level. It also familiarises students with the study skills required in an Australian university context.
