PROJECT NAME:
Effects of pelletized maple leaf mulch on disease, turf health and soil health in fairways How the MTF funding will be used to support project(s): Support funding will allow researchers to evaluate the effects of pelletized maple leaf mulch on turf and soil health when applied to fairway height turf in winter. We also want to look at whether the mulch will have any effect on disease, particularly snow mold over the winter months.

Project Update: An experiment was established at the Hancock Turfgrass Research Center, East Lansing, MI in the winter of 2024-2025. Soil temperature and volumetric water content data will be gathered throughout the winter and spring. 1000 grams of sand cornmeal snow mold inoculum was applied on November 19, 2024. 1350 grams (10L volume) of maple mulch pellets were applied to each plot on November 20, 2024.
