History The history of mobile phones charts the development of devices which connect wirelessly to the public switched telephone network. The transmission of speech by radio has a long and varied history going back to Reginald Fessenden's invention and shore-to-ship demonstration of radio telephony, through the Second World War with military use of radio telephony links. Hand-held radio transceivers have been available since the 1940s. Mobile telephones for automobiles became available from some telephone companies in the 1940s.


Cellphones in 1983

was put into operation the first commercial system in the city of Chicago. With that starting point, in several countries spread cellular telephony as an alternative to conventional wireless telephony. The technology was very popular, so a few years to establish itself began to saturate the service.

Inventor of cellphone Martin Cooper (born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, June 13, 1928) is considered the father of the mobile phone. Cooper is the CEO and founder of ArrayComm, a company that works on researching smart antenna and improved wireless networking technology. It was the corporate director of "Research and Development" of the telecommunicatio ns company Motorola.

 There are about 4.5 billion mobile phones in the world right now - with almost half of the developing world.  Almost two thirds of all mobile phone users use the backlight as a flashlight.  Motorola invented the first cell phone.  People throw away more than 100 million cell phones every year.


 It is reported that the average Korean teenager sends more than 200,000 text messages every year!  Nokia is still the largest handset maker in the world.  About 60,000 are part of plan with carrier.
