PROFESSIONAL WORK

SOUTH WEST NEW YORK This single story restaurant in Battery Park represents a rebranding of a highly successful “tex-mex restaurant that had existed nearby for over a decade. The challenge was to make the spaces feel distinct from one another while united by a cohesive theme, using rustic materials in unusual ways to create an upscale vibe.

Financial District, New York, NY 4,500 SF 120 seats status: realized contributions include: bar & restaurant interior design, conceptual renderings, building approval, DOB drawings, permits, construction drawings, construction management

The Blackhound Bar & Lounge is located at the north east corner of SWNY. An intimate and modern interpretation of the speakeasy, this 2,500 sq. ft. venue features a leather tufted, paneled bar at the front doors, a discreet plush lounge in the back that evokes a private living room.

PIER 15 Watermark Bar is a waterfront venue with indoor and outdoor space, perched on the edge of the new double-level Pier 15 adjacent to NYC’s historic South Street Seaport. Steel and glass make up the structure of the venue and floor-to-ceiling windows seamlessly separate the indoor and outdoor areas, framing a picturesque view of the waterfront that can be enjoyed all year. COMPETITIONS & CONCEPTS

ATU SCIENCE CENTER The aim of this new university building was to combine six departments within one complex. The design revolves around the STUDY of each discipline (classrooms), COLLABORATION between the departments (shared labs, library, solarium), and APPLICATION (gallery space for students to exhibit work while promoting collaboration between departments).

LIGHT IT UP! BENCH This solar powered, interactive bench diminishes boundaries and challenges the notion of personal space with playful animated effects. A non-solar interior bench is also proposed for retail environments, presenting opportunities for marketing and new friends.

URBAN TURBINES This 2011 eVolo skyscraper competition envisions bringing wind energy to the urban center. Urban Turbines integrates a wind farm within the existing urban fabric of a South Korean city. Busan, a growing city dependent on non renewable energy, is currently investing heavily in renewable energy resources. Urban Turbines proposes a more efficient transmission and dispersion of this renewable energy from its source to the demanding city by integrating the source within the city’s existing electrical grid while contributing to a thriving urban environment.

PIER 62 INSTALLATION This interactive installation on the west Manhattan waterfront engages those who walk beneath it. An abstraction of moons & planets accompanies stars which chase and follow visitors. The concept was explored as a feature of a potential beer garden project on the pier.
