You can usually drive to any of these places in thirty minutes or less. In some cases, there is also a public transportation option. Keep in mind, not all of these areas are safe, especially if you seem confused or lost. Know where you’re going, bring a friend, and proceed with a healthy mix of caution and curiosity.
Little Italy: Just north of downtown San Diego, on India Street
Encinitas: Take the Coaster, or drive I-5 north to Encinitas Boule
Barrio Logan: Take the trolle y, or drive I- 5 south to Crosby
Pacific Beach: I-5 north to the Grand/Garnet exit. North on East M
Kensington: I-8 east to I-15 south. Take the first exit, Adams Ave
Solana Beach: Take the Coaster, or drive I-5 north to Lomas Santa
Mission Hills: I-5 north to India/Washington Street exit. North on
Ocean Beach: From the western terminus of I-8, take Sunset Clif
Bird Rock: I-5 north to Grand/ Garnet. West to Mission Boulevard,
Golden Hill: I-5 south to B street. Right on B, left on 16th. Left o
and Kettner Boulevard between Cedar and Laurel Streets.
