for a Purpose

WHY IS CENTRE IMPORTANT TO THE COMMUNITY?

Without it some of our most vulnerable community members would fall deeper into holes that they cant get out of. We work closely with various levels of government, stakeholders, and other service providers to find solutions for those that seek our services. The level of accessibility that we embody in our work is essential to the survival to those in need and that is why the Centre is important to the community.

WHAT ARE OTHER WAYS THE COMMUNITY CAN HELP?

The community can help by recognizing that family violence and sexual assault are community issues that require community responses. By changing the narrative around these issues we can begin to holistically work as a community towards a solution. Also understanding, that help can look so many different ways and all ways are deeply appreciated. It means donations that can range from monetary, items or time. Someone can help by sharing information like following and sharing our posts. That is outreach that helps us and that can also reach someone in need of our services.

Tell Us More About The Breakfast Program

The breakfast program is a wonderful and ongoing collaboration of our organization and United Way. Its purpose it to create a safe space where self-identifying women and their families can receive a nutritious breakfast to begin their days. We understand that food security is an ongoing issue that has recently increased and that we currently are the primary organization to offer such a program. Registration is not required and women can just show-up between 9:3012pm to eat in a safe and supportive environment. It also serves as an important contact point for those same women to connect with our team and seek other support services and build a relationship with the Centre.

WHAT IS THE PURSE FOR A PURPOSE?

Basic items provide a level of support and dignity to numerous women seeking our services.

Whether women have left their environment and seeking shelter or financial abuse from violent partners results in withholding these items, it provides a great level of security and comfort to all those that receive them.

A list of ideal items would include: shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotions, tampons and/or pads.

Drop off your filled purse at The Women’s Resouce Centre (see website below for hours of operation). We are open all year long to accept your Purses!
