ASPIRINGTOMOREBYSUPPORTINGTHE MATTHEW25PROJECT
The Matthew 25 Project, founded in January 2019 has been gathering and distributing items to those in the greater Minot community for four years As a faith-based non-profit organization, their goal is to support those needing a handup with items like clothing, furniture, and other household like towels, small appliances, and baby items for example During the first three years, the organization made a lot of personal deliveries, but as the word of their mission grew, so did the need Just over a year ago, they got a permanent location where they can have people come to the warehouse and get the items, they need just off the 83-north bypass
At Aspire Credit Union, we opt to look for ways to say yes for our members, and ways to support those in the community serving and supporting others. Aspire also has begun taking a different approach to supporting non-profits in the area with a unique method focused on impact on an organization rather than quantity of businesses supported. “Being involved in the community is important,” shared Kevin Vigested, CEO of Aspire Credit Union. “By concentrating on one non-profit and their needs, we can also focus our efforts on how we can do our part supporting many aspects of their business. We are eager to see how our members and the greater community show up to support this great local nonprofit.”
With the focus on impact in mind, for the next three months, Aspire Credit Union will be collecting items for the Matthew 25 Project with each month having a theme around it
Kicking off in June, we are collecting bathroom items Items ranging from towels, washcloths, shower curtains, hair styling products like flat irons or blow dryers and anything else that could be used in the bathroom July will be focused on the kitchen Small appliances, cooking utensils, coffee pots, pans, cutting boards, etc We will conclude the three months with a baby item drive in August Diapers, wipes, sippy cups, bottles, infant toys, stuffed animals, bassinets etc
We kindly request that any items donated are new or gently used, and they can be dropped off right in our lobby at our 1430 South Broadway location in Minot The organization also accepts larger furniture pieces like cribs and mattresses, which can be donated directly to their distribution center at their 2410 30th Ave NW location

Most employers are experiencing a lack of applicants for their open positions. Often, Job Service North Dakota is asked where are the workers? No easy answers or solutions, however, Randy McDonald, Veterans Employment Representative in the Minot Job Service office has developed an opportunity for employers to connect with a group of individuals which often leave our community before any employer has an opportunity to connect with them. Who are they – it’s our Transitioning Service Members (TSMs) from Minot AFB (MAFB)!
We know Minot and our surroundings communities are a great place to live, work and play – let’s share that with our TSMs! Randy has connected with one of the squadron’s at MAFB and offers TSMs the opportunity to job shadow with a local employer to learn about the career opportunities Currently 12 employers have signed up to be a host site Each month Randy sends the list of host sites, TSMs sign up, Randy receives the list and coordinates with the employer The last Wednesday of each month the TSM will go to the employer’s worksite for an opportunity to explore their next career after the military
If you are interested in being one of the host sites, please contact Randy McDonald at 701-857-7523 or rmcdonald@nd gov
