Oak Park Amphitheater, Minot ND – July 12, 2023 – From 6pm-8pm, locals from Minot will join the Northern Plains Children’s Advocacy Center (NPCAC) in taking a stand against child abuse at Minot’s Oak Park Amphitheater with their 3rd annual Save Jane event.
For 2+ hours straight, volunteers from Minot will read the names and ages of over 600 children who were served due to sexual abuse and other crimes committed against them in Ward County and surrounding communities in 2022. Because these children are minors and their identities must be protected, “Jane Doe” and “John Doe” will be used in place of their names The Save Jane inaugural event launched in Dallas in 2019 This is the third year for the NPCAC to join in the awareness effort
“The Northern Plains Children’s Advocacy Center hopes that through Save Jane, Minot and surrounding communities will recognize the absolute magnitude and prevalence of child abuse in Ward County and ND - it is everywhere you look,” said Christal Halseth, NPCAC Executive Director “It will take 2+ hours of non-stop reading to name each child who was served due to a crime committed against them last year in our region That is simply unacceptable The event will go through until every name is read because that is representative of the NPCAC and our partners - we never stop fighting for chilfen who have suffered unspeakable abuse The NPCAC and our multi-disciplinary team will continue to do our work, but we need the community’s help ”
Influential leaders from around the community have signed up for shifts to read names throughout the event The NPCAC welcomes all of Minot to take a turn on-stage and participate in this impactful event by reading a selection of names To volunteer to read names at our 2023 event, please email christal@northernplainscac org
