Senior Profiles

Storey Schifter Hometown: New York, NY College Attending: New York University Intended Major: Journalism, English, or Art History Storey is close to home at New York University, and she begins her freshman year exploring a possible major in journalism, English, or art history, with a minor in French. She will take full opportunity of NYU’s terrific internship opportunities in the city and possibly study abroad at one of NYU’s campuses in London, Paris, Shanghai, or Abu Dhabi. As she appreciates the diversity of Millbrook’s student body and the friends she made from so many countries, she looks forward to continuing to meet people from all over the world. Storey feels like she has an advantage going into college life, having lived away from home for three years in high school. And it was not just dormitory life that provided lessons, but the faculty who instilled in her responsibility and independence. She feels extremely well-prepared for the college classroom, as well, due to the challenging Millbrook curriculum. Mr. Hart’s U.S. History class, in particular, was always engaging, as his discussions were interesting and lively while his assignments were challenging yet fair. She hopes to have that balance of information, challenge, and interest in all of her college courses.

Gabe Fekete Hometown: Rhinebeck, NY College Attending: McGill University, Montreal Intended Major: International Management Having grown up and attended school through this VI form year in Dutchess County, New York, Gabe was ready for a new adventure in a completely new place. Attending McGill University in Montreal, Canada, he is enrolled in the Desautels Faculty of Management and pursuing an International Management degree. He plans to take advantage of every opportunity in order to get the most out of his time at college because, like at Millbrook, he knows four years will fly by quickly. During his time at McGill, he is hoping to have a professor much like Ms. Havard, who taught Gabe’s V form Honors English class. “Every day there was an ‘a-ha’ moment, and we studied topics and writers and areas of literature I never thought I would understand or enjoy. That type of eye-opening enlightenment, while remaining interesting and relevant, is what I hope to see more of in college.”
