Farhat and Suad Ziadeh
The Ziadehs were the sole owners of the property, with this architecturally significant residence serving as their family home for over 50 years. They were meticulous in the maintenance and care of the home and raised their family of five daughters in the beautiful neighborhood of Laurelhurst.
Farhat taught at the University of Washington and its Jackson School of International Studies for many years. He is the founder of the school’s Middle East Center and the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization. He originally taught at Princeton University and was active in the creation of Middle East Studies departments at universities across the country. He was a lifelong mentor to scholars in the field. Farhat and Suad were married for over 67 years. Suad was actively involved in many civic, cultural, and charitable organizations. She was also a devoted hostess and cook, who was known for her gracious parties. Their remarkable lives are intertwined with this distinctive and welcoming home.
