or 3 years now the organizer of the Golden chapter of the Pulpwood Queens book club, Alyse Urice, has been telling us about her “little project” of leaving small bundles of used books at bus stops, unemployment offices, grocery stores and other unlikely places. Her project has blossomed into a home-based, not-for-profit organization, Literacy and Hope. Locally, besides distributing bundles of “pre-loved books” to low-income folks, she has stocked empty bookshelves for a low-income apartment complex in Arvada and put authordonated books into the hands of The Homecoming Queens, a monthly book group for women in transitional housing through the Lakewood-based non-profit, STRIDE. Beyond the immediate community, Alyse and her family drove a truck filled with enough books to create a school
