Il progetto GALFaHOUSE mira a rispondere sia alla necessità di natura in città, sia all’emergenza abitativa a fronte dell’assurda quantità di edifici abbandonati a Milano. Lavorando sul caso simbolo di Torre Galfa si è pensato a un prototipo ripetibile che serva a creare una rete urbana di biodiversità. Ogni nodo rappresenterà un rifugio per tutte le specie ed il luogo in cui si pensa possa essere sperimentata un nuovo tipo di relazione tra uomo e animali in città, e in particolare nello spazio intimo della casa. La torre è quindi divisa verticalmente in due parti, una completamente naturale, l’altra per gli uomini. Rifacendosi al concetto di “Terzo Paradiso” di Michelangelo Pistoletto è stato studiato la spazio di soglia, lo spazio tra l’Io e il Tu, affinchè possano avvenire qui diversi tipi di interazione tra le due sfere. Per la parte animale si forniranno le condizioni per la crescita di un ambiente naturale autosufficiente, fornendo suolo naturale e specifiche specie vegetali atte a vivere senza la cura dell’uomo e conformi a questo ambiente. Rimuovendo vetri e parte dei solai, si permetterà alla pioggia, al sole e agli animali di entrare, in modo da garantire il naturale ciclo di vita dell’ecosistema. Non volendo controllare l’inserimento degli animali abbiamo progettato diversi tipi di ambienti, basando la distinzione sulla possibile relazione con la specie umana, distinguendo 3 tipi di comportamenti: sociale, in cui la soglia è il luogo di interazione diretta, semi-sociale, dove la soglia fa da filtro visivo mutevole nel tempo e anti-sociale non esiste contatto se non sonoro e vibrazionale. Il dispositivo utilizzato sono pareti di tubi di cartone strutturale, che posti orizzontalmente o verticalmenti, riempiti o lasciati vuoti permettono una permeabilità mutevole tra i due spazi.
The project GALFaHOUSE aims at responding to the need for nature within the city while tackling the problem of housing emergency considering the absurd amount of abandon buildings in Milan. Working in the symbolic case of Galfa Tower, we designed a prototype assisting in the creation of a new network frame of urban diversity. Each node of this system will be a shelter for all species and a place where a new kind of relationship between animals and humans can emerge. So the tower is divided vertically into two parts; one completely natural and one for humans. Considering Michelangelo Pistoletto’s concept “Third Heaven”, we designed a threshold, a space between the I and You, that can accumulate and promote a new level of experiences and interactions between the two spheres. For the animal part we will set up the conditions for the growth of a natural, self-sufficient environment; providing natural soil and specific plant species suitable for living without human intervention. Glasses will be removed and the floors will be sectioned to allow rain, sun and animals to enter, in order to ensure the natural life cycle of the ecosystem. The vertical structure and the modular grid of the façade will be recycled because of their symbolic values. In order to have a more natural placement of animals, we designed three different types of environments depending on their social behavior. The social one, where the threshold is the place of direct interaction, the semi-social, where the threshold acts as a visual filter changing along the time and the anti-social where the only contact is with sound and vibrations. The device will be made by paper tubes, placed orizontally or vertically, full or empty; it allows a changing permeability between the spaces.
