Welcome! I am pleased to welcome you “Under the Sea,” as we celebrate the 2015 Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala. This annual event is the region’s premier scholarship fundraiser, and is celebrating its 32nd anniversary this evening. Since its inception, the Gala has raised more than $3 million for scholarships at Atlantic Cape Community College and its Academy of Culinary Arts. As the community’s college, Atlantic Cape is committed to excellence. That commitment extends to my shared vision for the college of fulfilling our mission by focusing on one main goal—fostering student learning. This goal is achieved through three main strategies: expanding access to our college, enhancing our learning environment, and providing superior programs and services. I commend you, as donors, for your generosity and thank you for your ongoing support of our vision that “Opportunity Starts Here.” Indeed, your continued generosity will make an education more affordable and provide opportunity for our students well into the future. Honorees Mayor Don Guardian Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian will be honored for his more than two decades of leadership as Executive Director of the Special Improvement District, his community participation and activism, as well as his vision to reinvent Atlantic City. Mayor Guardian has been an active member of the Metropolitan Business Citizen’s Association for the past 20 years and the Gardner’s Basin Foundation for 10 years. He is a 35-year member of Rotary International and has served in the capacity of Club President and District Governor within that organization.

Chef Nicole Gaffney Nicole Gaffney is a chef, writer and television personality best known for being a finalist on the 10th season of the reality cooking competition Food Network Star. On the show, Gaffney brought attention to her “Coastal Cuisine,” cooking up dishes that boast bright, clean flavors, using fresh ingredients and simple preparations. Gaffney, of Brigantine, attended the Academy of Culinary Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College.
