October 2017

Jan Exnar was born in 1951 in Havlíčkův Brod, Czech Republic. She studied at the Glass High School of Železný Brod, from 1966 to 1970 and at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague in the Glass Study of Prof. S. Libenský until 1976. His works highlight shape and color and look compact. They are inspired in part by cosmic spaces.

His sculptures often contain a myriad of small bubbles. For some years, the work of Jan Exnar has become more expressive, symbolic and figurative. His sculptures are mostly monochromatic. He received the Jugend Gestaltet awards, IHM Glaspreis, Munich in 1981 and Bayerischer Staatspreis, 56. Internationalen

Handwerkmesse, Munich in 2004. Exnar's works have been exhibited in several museums in Europe and the United States. His works can be found in the collections of the Museum of Art in Brno, Czech Republic, the Pardubice Museum in the Czech Republic, and Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, United States.

Emerging artists. Jared Rosenacker.

Jared Rosenacker was fascinated with glass while attending Bowling Green State University. He was captivated by his power and shifted his focus to the arts, an unexpected adventure that continually reveals deeper layers of meaning. For him, there is a correlation between transforming glass into a vessel, and the way in which glass has become a vessel that has carried it around the country and now around the world. Through travel, Rosenacker gains knowledge and understanding, which she now expresses through her work.

Getting the project was complicated and took them about a year. But the artisan workshop of glass Viarca, assembled thirty years ago by the maestro from Malaga, Alberto Cascón, managed to advance the challenge and is about to culminate. The whole family, Alberto, his wife Mayte Cuenca and their two children, David and Nacho, have worked during the last two months in the creation of three stained glass windows for the church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Brasilia. In a few days they will have the work finished so that it can be exported to Brazil in early October. Although they have works of their own in England, Portugal and Equatorial Guinea, this will be the first time that the craftsmen in Malaga carry their good work to the American continent. Ten square meters and 300 kilos measure and weigh the three pieces they are working on. But dimensions are not the most significant. It is their technique, experts say. "It can be considered stained glass because its function is to cover the window hollow, but not because of its technique, they are not made as usual, neither with lead nor with copper," explains David Cascón, craftsman and son of the master. "It is an artistic work in glass and metal," he adds. The expert comments that it is two iron cut cuts that wrap the pieces of high quality handmade blown glass. This material has had to be imported from England and

France "because in Spain there is no blown glass industry," he says. It is a material of greater cost for being totally handmade. Alberto Cascón realizes the wedding dress of the main figure of one of the pieces, that represents the Weddings of Caná. He also paints the faces of the characters. "It combines fire paint with grit and carved glass plaqué," he says and points out that the latter is a double crystal that has a transparent part and another color to be able to "attack the color and create effects, overlays of tonalities or transparent areas ". It is a meticulous work "that we can do thanks to the experience of my treasured father in these three decades", indicates David Cascón. He also emphasizes that the greatest complication in the manufacture of the works have been the cuts of high complexity. Another thing is their transport, much more difficult. "You can not leave the airport in Malaga because no freighter will land here with the capacity that would be needed, since the glass has to travel vertically," says David. The weight and vibrations of the trip add tension to the glass and could break. Even so, the molds will be stored in Viarca in case it is necessary to replace some of the glass in the place of destination. An importing company from Brazil will be in charge of making the transfer once Viarca leaves the pieces packed and the wood even fumigated so that they can enter the American country. But that will be the last part of

www.amigosmava.org

the process. The first came with the sketches of the pieces. The design is framed within the "new aesthetics of the churches, a current emerged very recently," according to David Cascón. In particular the pieces that prepare for Our Lady of the Assumption are recreations of a design by Kiko Argüello, the Leonese painter initiator of the Neocatechumenal Way, along with the Spanish Carmen Hernández and the Italian priest Mario Pezzi. "The priest of the diocese has been responsible for the election and has wanted his church to carry this aesthetic," says the craftsman. The colors they have used were determined "and it was fundamental to follow the color palette they sent us", details the craftsman. Besides the piece dedicated to the Wedding of Cana, the remaining two are dedicated to the word of God - you can read the term Verbum and Logos, God as the beginning and end of everything. These works are the only decorations in glass that will take the church of new plant that is constructed in Brasilia. Examples of a craft made art respecting tradition and including innovation, that is achieved with a constant formation. Nacho Cascón, for example, has studied engineering and glass design at the Royal Spanish Glass Factory in Segovia. Now what they want is to continue attracting these types of projects to take their work, the name of Viarca and Malaga to the rest of the world.

to recreate beauty or make you think," says the owner of the museum while emphasizing the delicacy and originality of the works that can already be seen in the first room of the museum in Malaga. It arose in the middle of the 20th century, had great exponents in Germany and the United States and in 1983 they met in a mythical exhibition that Joaquín Torres organized in Valencia. Vicointer '83 was the title of the exhibition, "the first glass exhibition of modern art in Spain, a bomb," says the collector. "We wanted to make a Studio Glass museum but it was not made and the collection dispersed," Fernandez-Prieto adds, pointing to the piece by the Austrian Jindra Beranek, which is displayed in her showcase, "the only one of this artist in Spain". Today, the Museo del Vidrio de Alcorcón, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Madrid and its namesake of Valencia, La Granja and the Cerralbo Museum want to reconvene the pieces of that exhibition of the 80 with Cristina Giménez Raurell at the head. And in this show will have a prominent importance the Malaga collection, which keeps growing. "We are waiting for a couple of pieces to arrive and since I do not bring them and the material is so delicate the transfer has me without sleep, "he says. And Gonzalo Fernández-Prieto has devoted his life to glass and glass. His collection already reaches 3,200 pieces and is" so in love "with the house that for eight years and a half is a museum that is committed to making it grow with its potter's past. October 2017

The XXI National Glass Hall was inaugurated at Berazategui Art 2017, which has been visited at the San Francisco Municipal Complex, Calle 23 y 149, Berazategui (Argentina) until 1 October. Organized since 1994 by the Ministry of Culture of the Municipality of Berazategui, through its School of Glass, it brings together artists from all over the country and abroad to present their works.

Mussi at the opening of his speech. In addition, the Buenos Aires legislator highlighted the continuity of the event: "Everything that was started in the cultural order, persisted over time and we were improving. Culture in Berazategui had a fundamental characteristic that is synthesized in the word'continuity '. There was a generational continuity in the matter, which has made the city stand out in this respect. "

On this occasion, the Hall has counted on 62 works of 44 artists, of which 6 were local and the rest come from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA), La Plata, San Nicolás and from localities in the north, west and southern Conurbation of Buenos Aires.

For its part, the local Culture Secretary, Federico López, said: "It is a project that has been held for more than 20 years, where one can find pieces of art in glass of great artistic level, excellent design and creativity." In addition, he highlighted "the political decision to target culture as a line of management".

During the opening ceremony, three prizes were awarded. The winning works will become part of the heritage of the local Ministry of Culture and will integrate the Contemporary Art Collection of the Museum of Glass, which is in formation. CONTINUITY "It is a great joy for me to continue sharing these things. I want to thank people who come from other places and who every year do us the honor of exposing in Berazategui all that he has been able to do, as well as the neighbors who visit us and who make it possible to accept such proposals "Said provincial deputy Juan Jose

Meanwhile, the director of the area of the Arts of the Fire of the Department of Culture of the Municipality, Veronica Avila, stressed the importance of the event: "It means a meeting point for glass artists and that makes us very proud. It is not a common sample, it is the only one in Latin America where you can observe the glass from an artistic point of view and not as a purely utilitarian material ". Finally, the winner of the "Bullseye Glass e Imagen Vitral" Acquisition Prize, María Eugenia Álvarez Herrero, said: "It is the third year I

participated in the exhibition and I am very happy for the prize received. Being part of this event is always positive. It's a great opportunity that Berazategui gives us, the only Glass Hall we have in the country. " The proposal consolidates the city as National Capital of Glass, by gathering the best artists of the country every year and exhibiting the great variety of pieces registered in the categories Traditional Techniques, Techniques not Tradicional and Bullseye Glass and Stained Glass. SINGLE SCHOOL IN THE REGION The Municipal School of Glass of Berazategui works in the San Francisco Municipal Complex and is the only one in South America. His work on the treatment of this material distinguishes the district, both in Argentina and abroad. This contest has the virtue of promoting creativity, technique and expression in glass, showing the vitality of a School that currently continues to award the title of Artistic Glass Technician (2-year career) and provides discipline workshops with various levels: Molding and thermoforming, Lighting screens, Painting on glass, Screen printing in glass, Thermofusion, Thermofusion for jewelry and Stained glass. During excavation of an old house in that city were found a large amount of remains of glass manufacture, however the facilities have not been found. Golden glass vessels are produced here, in addition to a large number of beads, pendants, head pins and playing pieces, pieces of rough glass, tubes to make beads, glass remains of smooth colors, beads etc. Many manufacturing residues were also found along with tools and containers used to obtain the glass.

October 2017

Farcama 2017 starts on October 6 and will be open until the 15th. This is an edition with 70 per cent of artisans from the Castilian-La Mancha region, the Plaza de la Artesanía is opened with live workshops and the tents are removed to make way for a wider pavilion. It will have 203 artisans, of whom 70 per cent will be from the region. In addition, 12 autonomous communities will be represented, there will be craftsmen from France, Hungary and Portugal, and agents from 10 countries will also be at the fair to establish business contacts. It will be a fair where they will bet on the professionalization of the artisan sector and in which they want sales to increase. "Artisans need to increase their sales to improve their quality of life," said the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment, Patricia Franco.

Farcama opens a pavilion and forgets the tents. It will be in the outer zone where the exhibition surface is increased and where it will also be won in comfort, since the corridors will be up to one meter wider. In this sense, the renovation comes to the very image of the fair. Change the logo and enter the "orange representing the handicraft". The new image wants to reflect "the landscape" and the sector itself in the region as indicated by the counselor.

But the presence of furniture, forging and metal, textiles, glass and food is not lost either.

Due to the new distribution, in the lower part of the fair there will be up to 300 square meters more for exhibitors, a 12 per cent more space in this plant of the fair. The stars of the fair are the craftsmen and 203 will meet in Toledo. Approximately 150 will have permanent stand during all the days of the fair. Until the 200, some 25 more will be in the area "CLM Sale Group" and in the exhibition "The Time Paused" can be found around 30.

In addition, the budget of the fair is reduced by 11%, since it goes from the 315,000 euros that were executed in 2016, to The most represented sectors the 279,000 that counts this year. It's about doing "more for in this fair will be ceramics, jewelry, leather and leather less", said the counselor.

From the four cardinal points and from the five provinces artisans will arrive until Farcama. The glass sector will be represented, according to the website of the Fair by DeCristalia, Grisallas Moreno, Llue Vidrieros, Lume Vidrio, Malvaygris Murano, Nyrb Stained Glass, Olga Art and Color, Opal Workshop Glass and Tints Glass Workshop. The stands where the participants of Farcama offer their products will not be the only one that can be contemplated. Spotlights will also target the exhibits. First, and during all the days of the fair, it will open its doors "El tiempo pausado", an exhibition whose curator is the Toledo designer and decorator María Aranzadi, and who will gather in the Toletum building pieces of more than 30 artisans with the to show "how the most traditional craftsmanship coexists happily and finds its place in the current environments".

In spite of his 91 years and the trembling of his own hands of the parkinson, Eloy Narea Suarez still takes the brushes and is dedicated to realize grisallas in the faces of saints, virgins and other figures that are born of his ingenuity.

It is not an exaggeration to say that Don Eloy has irrigated a myriad of children of clay, terracotta and glass all over the national territory and in some parts of the foreigner.
