However, the tradition of stained glass in Vimbodí and Poblet is much older and dates back to the 12th century, in the middle of the construction of the Monastery of Poblet, when there was a glass oven in the Nerola area where lamps and other pieces of glass were manufactured. for the new Cistercian abbey. Glass production became an industry from the twentieth century, when they began to produce objects for industrial uses, religious, decorative, agricultural and, especially for domestic use. The main pieces that came out of the ovens were porrones, oil cans and catarafas of Catalan green and white glass, as well as pitchers, salt shakers, canaries and decorative pieces. Vimbodí and Poblet recalls the glass-making spirit with the museum and with the Craft Glass Festival of Vimbodí and Poblet, Vitrum.

Correos has presented a new stamp commemorating the centenary of Los Castillos de Valderas, a palatial ensemble of Saxon style located in the town of Alcorcón that was inaugurated in 1917 by the Marquis José Sanchiz y Quesada. The president of Correos, Javier Cuesta, accompanied by the Undersecretary of Development, Rosa Navarro, and the mayor of the municipality, David Pérez (PP), has been commissioned to show the new seal corresponding to the Heritage Series and valid throughout the European scope. At the end of the 60s of the last century, the whole was abandoned and deteriorated until it reached an almost ruinous state. In 1988, the sixth Marquis of Valderas, Hipólito Sanchiz and Núñez-Robres, decided to donate them to the City Council of Alcorcón, which reformed them and gave them a new public use.

The Alexandrine masters are believed to have established workshops in Rome and Campania in the same period in which the Syrians did it in northern Italy. It is known that these master glassmakers arrived in northern Italy because we have the case of Ennion, who created a branch in this area. The blowing technique went through an experimentation phase, but it was short-lived because the Syrian artisans active in Italy, during the August period, managed, in an interval of twenty or thirty years, to apply almost all the technical blowing varieties.

Something after the establishment of glass centers in the Po Valley, a workshop was founded at the mouth of the Rhone River.

Gradually the workshops are extended in a northerly direction, through Gaul and Germania.

Branches of the centers located at the mouth of the Rhone and in the Po Valley are established in Lugdunum (Lyon) and Vindoniss (Brug).

From these centers glass will be exported to a large part of the European area not occupied by the Romans.

Major glass centers in Northern Europe will be: Amiens, Reims, Treveris and Cologne.

problem posed by the textile industry in the world - the second most polluting -, such as Ecoalf and Ecoology, and several designers who have decided to experiment with fabrics from recycled materials. , aware that they are the future of fashion.

We have tried for years to participate in that recycling culture that does exist in the rest of European countries but we still find many obstacles. Will we really save the world by separating the waste? Is it true that our consumerist zeal is destroying the planet's resources? Is it true that the Circular Economy has arrived to save the Earth? International congresses, media, discussion forums ... All insist on the urgent need to reduce pollution, minimize the waste we generate and, in general, be more respectful with the environment. The implementation of the Circular Economy is one of the most clear objectives in the Europe 2020 agenda, which aims to generate smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. The idea is to implement a resource utilization system where the reduction of the elements prevails. He flees from the current "use and throw" and is committed to reuse, repair and recycling to give the materials a second life. But putting this system in motion supposes, in addition to the work of the institutions, the effort of the citizens. And although we have tried for years to participate in this recycling culture that does seem to exist in the rest of the European countries, we still find ourselves with many obstacles and do not finish trusting in the process. 1. City councils do not make things easy: there are few cubes It is one of the most repeated complaints: there are few containers, especially in some municipalities where the recycling policy is not a priority. And as they are scarce, it is necessary to walk long distances and, with the weight of the bags,

it is sometimes impossible to reach. But according to data from Ecoembes in 2016 there were 572,739 yellow and blue containers in Spain, distributed throughout the country (14,782 more than the previous year). In this way, 99% of Spaniards have access to the selective collection of this waste with an average of one container per 100 meters. Also, if we do not recycle, the size of landfills and incinerators will continue to increase outside of the city, posing a great threat to the environment and health. The effort is worth it.

The last one to join sustainable fashion has been the Sevillian designer Lourdes Montes, who in the last edition of the International Flamenco Fashion Show (SIMOF) presented the first farala dress made with fabric from recycled packaging. 4. Recycling costs us all money On the domestic level, you need to spend more money in cubes. And in what refers to the collection, the municipalities have to make disbursement in containers and equipment for the selective transfer. But it is also the saving of energy, water and raw materials, the recycling industry is Spain is responsible for the creation of 42,000 jobs direct or indirect.

If we talk about savings, the future is the imposition of the rate of 2. Because a person does not do garbage per generation, which is it, nothing happens already underway in some municipalities of the Balearic The waste generated by a person does not mean anything, Islands and Catalonia. Although Cervantes was never in Tetouan -or at least it is not documented-, the city is mentioned twelve times, in which it refers to its murky dungeons, its thriving slave market and its dynamic port where Turkish ships docked. they disputed the control of the Mediterranean with the Spaniards.

In "La gran sultana", one Morato Arráez "reached a light ship / stopped in Tetouan / and the girl later sold / to a famous and rich Moor / whose name is Ali Izquierdo".

The objective is to generate a dialogue with the visitors explaining the work process of the craft companies that participate in the event. Each workshop transfers a part of their daily activity to the street to show the public their craft and the techniques and processes used in the preparation of their work. Throughout the day they teach the tools, machinery and materials that are used and finally the result of their work showing finished objects. This event also serves to promote participating artisan businesses through their promotional material such as brochures, posters, videos ... In this year's edition of the

Summary of an article by Agustí Bulbena.

In 1903 a French chemist, Edouard Benedictus, 'discovered' the process of lamination, in a completely casual way. He left forgotten a collodion solution in a flask, when evaporating completely, he left stuck inside it an elastic celluloid protective film, which when breaking the flask kept its fragments together. This anecdote provided the idea for the manufacture of the first laminated safety glass.

As for 'yellowing', as with all polymers (organic chemistry with carbon and hydrogen), it can be produced sooner or later depending on the raw material and the quantity and quality of UV protectants used. The lamination of glasses with EVA is feasible especially for works of concrete laminated glass and of small circulation: curved glasses, inserts (fabrics and polyester), layer glasses, printed glasses ... When there is a commercial solution with PVB, the EVA will hardly be able to compete. While it is true, the lamination with EVA gives a lot of autonomy and flexibility to glassware, which have a more option to capture more special work. Benefits The most outstanding property of laminated glass is that, in the event of a fracture, the plastic film prevents glass fragments from falling off, considerably improving its mechanical behavior in the event of an impact and avoiding the danger involved in projecting glass chips. . Special laminates Laminated glass fire resistant Laminated glass in which at least one interlayer reacts at high temperature to give the product a very high level of fire resistance. The laminated glass every time has greater presence in any glass enclosure, due to its main characteristic that is to be considered as safety glass.

May 2018

The Fair of Madrid hosted on April 11 the day 'Glass, an architectural solution', organized by Interempresas Media with its publication Vitrea, together with Veteco and Asefave, which dealt with glass as a solution in architecture. As reported by Ifema, the event, which has a high technical content, was also the framework for the presentation of Veteco Glass, the new commitment of the Veteco Exhibition, organized by Ifema and also held at the Feria de Madrid, from November 13 to 16. 2018, within the framework of ePower & Building. This day was also held last March, at the Sofia Hotel in Barcelona, with a great success of the call. In the first part of the event, several technical presentations were developed by Raúl Calleja, Director of ePower & Building; Pablo Martín, Director of Asefave, and Agustí Bulbena, consultant architect in glass. Bulbena was in charge of opening the day with a presentation on the paper that interprets the glass inside the hole in the envelope of the buildings. For his part, Pablo Martín took the floor to explain new developments in terms of

regulations, which concern the glass sector. He put the finishing touch to the first part of the day Raúl Calleja, Director of ePower & Building, who made a presentation of this call, which he defined as "the largest event in Southern Europe of solutions for the entire life cycle of the building". In his speech, Calleja explained the novelties that he would bring in his next edition ePower & Building and the salons he hosts, which maintain his identity. Among these new features, Veteco Glass stands out, a space within Veteco that will gather "the novelties of the glass industry, where manufacturers and transformers will be represented, solutions in structural glazing, special applications, interior glass, manufacturers and distributors of fittings and specialized machinery. In addition, it will also host a large conference on glass to create sector and boost the dynamism of companies. " In the second part of the day, a discussion table on glass took place as a solution in architecture. For the first time, representatives of the three glass manufacturers, AGC, Guardian and Saint-Gobain

Building Glass presented their impressions on the contribution and trends of glass in architecture. Francesc Ventura, responsible for architectural glasses of the company, attended as representative of AGC; On behalf of SaintGobain Building Glass, Isabel Sánchez Camacho, Director of MKT, Technical Sales Support CITAV and Business Development of the company, and Juan Imaz as Guardian representative were present. The experts delved into different subjects such as the glass manufacturing process; the benefits of this material; the role of the transformer; the concept of 'glass à la carte'; the future of the material; the concept of 'the great dimension' or the role of glass in terms of safety and sound insulation. In short, all the experts agreed on the concept of glass as an architectural solution, because "it is a noble and flexible material that always adapts to the demands of the market while still having much to offer the construction market". Our President was present on this day, given the importance of glass in architecture.

The construction and rehabilitation under the parameters of Passivhaus is opening step by step in Spain. However, there is still some suspicion and ignorance about the benefits of this type of construction both in the sector and among consumers. In fact, it is usual to argue against these buildings despite their advantages. The arguments are still numerous to not build better, gain energy efficiency and save more, as explained by the president of PEP, Adelina Uriarte, during his speech with the conference "Reasons not to build under the Passivhaus standard", which has taught within the PEP day "Myths, present and future of the building and the rehabilitation of buildings under the Passivhaus standard", held in Huesca with the collaboration of FAC Huesca, and in which it has unmasked the main five reasons that are put as excuse and that they are not true in statements to elEconomista.es

The Lycurgus Cup. Then they decided to kill him and so Dionysus raised the curse.

Volume II — Number 110

May 2018

If we look at the image of the glass, we will see that Lycurgus is cloistered by the vine, as only attire boots. The figure is escorted by Ambrosia crouched on the left. The satyrs of Dionysus follow, preparing to throw a rock at Lycurgus. On the other hand a shepherd's staff. On the right side of Lycurgus we can see the figure of the god Pan and at his feet a panther with a canine aspect. The panther's face has been lost but it is supposed to be dozing next to the king. Then the image of Dionysus with a tirso in his hand, with the Oriental dress. In the composition also the calf of a leg is missing. Behind it hangs a streamer, from the thyrsus and overlaps the raised foot of the satyr with the rock, all this completes the entire circumference of the cup. Top the foot of the cup with vine leaves, and the rim with leaf shapes with varying lengths that fit the scenes in the glass. The Lycurgus Cup dates from the fourth century after Christ and is exhibited in the British Museum. Maybe it was made in Alexandria or Rome around 290-325. The excellent state of conservation suggests the likelihood that it belonged to the treasury of a church and had never been buried. Maybe it was in some sarcophagus. In 1800 the golden bronze flange and the actual foot, possibly restored during the French Revolution, were added.

coincidence but of a very elaborate work. It has been speculated that the Romans could master the use of nanoparticles. If they added silver and gold to the already melted glass, it was dyed red and produced changing color effects, something totally unusual. The Romans left us a chalice in honor of wine and its god, as well as feasts and rites inspired by madness and ecstasy.

There are other representations of this story where Lycurgus attacks Ambrosia with a doubleedged ax and the companions come to his aid or also Lycurgus only entangled in the vine. The existing representation more similar to the scene that shows us the glass, is a mosaic of the apse of Villa del Casale, in Piazza Armerina (Sicily).

Some experts have suggested that the scene may refer to the victory of the Emperor The secrets that this piece keeps There are several stories about Constantine I over Licinius, who are still studied today. The sarcophagus of Margaret.

May 2018

Between the Egyptian sarcophagus and the tomb of Princess Disney, this is the surprising tomb that Queen Margaret of Denmark has ordered to rest her mortal remains when she dies. No doubt the Danish monarch can never be accused of lack of foresight, since she has commissioned this work, whose construction has just finished, for 15 years to Bjørn Nørgaard, one of the most prestigious artists in Denmark. The original tomb has been named by its creator as 'Sakofag' and has been placed in the chapel of Santa Birgitte of the Cathedral of Roskilde, in Copenhagen, the same place where the remains of other Danish kings rest. The set is more than three meters long, weighs seven

tons and has been built in glass, in reference to the transparency that Margarita from Denmark has wanted to carry throughout her life. But in the funerary monument there are also other references. The catafalque on which it rests is made of sandstone from France, the birthplace of her husband, Prince Enrique, who died last February and the three pillars that support it are Danish granite, Faroese basalt and Greenland marble: one for each of the three countries that make up the kingdom of Denmark. The elephant heads that adorn the three pillars, molded in silver, represent the insignia of the Order of the Elephant.

According to his will, he was incinerated and before his death he ordered that his ashes be thrown into the sea. A kind of final rebellion in front of his wife and in front of the country that refused to be named king consort, as he claimed for years. The photographs of the funerary monument have been disseminated by the Danish royal house and the queen has hired Pavel Stingl, director of documentaries, to record the entire process of assembly and placement in a film to be called 'Sarcophagus of a Queen'.
