WHAT’S COOKING? Houston sports enthusiasts may not like star Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry, but they may soon become fans of his wife. Food Network host and celebrity cookbook author Ayesha Curry is bringing her new restaurant concept, International Smoke, to CITYCENTRE in 2018. With award-winning San Francisco chef and restaurateur Michael Mina at the helm, International Smoke will feature “global approaches on fire, grilling, and smoke.” Given Mina’s incredible success in the dining industry and Curry’s rising star, International Smoke appears to be a ready-made winner. Even if you are no fan of Mrs. Curry’s husband, it shouldn’t stop you from enjoying what will clearly be some championship-level cuisine coming to CITYCENTRE.

LOCAL & LOVELY Last July, NextSeed, a community funding resource for small businesses, hosted an event called Next Up at GreenStreet to promote and test local female entrepreneurs looking for a break. GreenStreet was so impressed with a group of women business owners that they offered them an 18-month pop-up shop on the property, and the make(her) boutique was born. The pop-up combines the talents of Lyndsey Brantley of Camellia Alise*,
offering a line of unisex skincare products; Brenda Grands of Brenda Grands Designs, a purveyor of modern jewelry; and Ellyse Espinoza of Stateline Design, seller of unique Houston-themed apparel and accessories. make(her) merges the products of these three singular start-ups into a one-of-akind shopping experience featuring talented, local women and their womenowned and -made brands. * After April 27, Camellia Alise items will only be available online.
