COACHING & COUN ELLING SERVICE
Michener provides professional, free and confidential coaching and counselling services for students undergoing academic or personal challenges. The counsellor can help you:
• manage trauma, depression and anxiety • get support for relationship and sexual identity issues • get support for school, life and exam stress • manage cultural adjustments and discrimination • cope with grief and loss • tackle misuse of alcohol, drugs or other addictions For general inquiries and to make and appointment, please email success@michener.ca with your availability.

Official Michener communications to students will be conducted through electronic means. Michener staff will use the Michener assigned Outlook account to contact and inform students.

ACTIVE DIRECTORY NETWORK LOGIN
Your network login allows you to personally log into our LAN (local area network) as a user, as well as the computers in the LRC. Logins and passwords will be created and emailed to you prior to your arrival at Michener. The first time you log in to the Michener LAN or webmail, you will be prompted to change your password.
This network account gives you access to Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and a number of other software applications, including email). You will also have limited storage space for documents on our server from your main network account. This will show as a “P” drive under your personal account.

EMAIL (M OUTLOOK OFFICE 365)
Your email account will be created prior to arrival at Michener. Outlook Office 365 allows you to send and receive email and is your personal student email account. This is Michener faculty and staff’s first line of communication with all students. We use this email account to send information and we strongly urge you to check this account daily. Students must use this account when corresponding with faculty and staff.
To access your student email account through the web from inside or outside Michener, open your web browser and go to outlook.office.com. You must log in to webmail first before your new password will work on other Active Directory systems. For instructions on how to set up Michener email on a mobile device, please visit helpdesk.michener.ca and navigate to the “Email” section of our “Instructions and How To’s” page.

my.Michener is Michener’s intranet site where you will find updates about what’s going on in the Michener community. It is your source for information on services for students, academic rules and regulations, Michener’s many departments/programs and how you can contact them, upcoming events, new initiatives and just about anything else you’d want to know. Michener has wireless access throughout the building. Use your active directory password to login. Visit my.michener.ca/wireless for instructions on how to connect if you are having issues.

CHAT SUPPORT
Chat Support is available to resolve minor technical issues such as password resets, accounts lockouts or general technical inquires. 1. Access the Michener Helpdesk Site by visiting michener.zendesk.com/hc/en-us 2. Look for the (Chat) icon on the bottom right of the page, 3. Enter your name and e-mail and a member of the team will reach out shortly.
The chat support hours are from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
Self-Service is where you can view your courses, grades, tuition balance, registration statement, unofficial transcripts and Health Requirements. To access the Self-Service, go to students.michener.ca. For assistance with Self-Service, please visit the Registrar’s Office (room 500), or email regoffice@michener.ca.

Students will be block registered and their schedules can be found by visiting MyMichener: my.michener.ca/departments/registrars-office/schedules and scrolling to the appropriate program, year, and lab group.

Program Resource Guides
Program Resource Guides provide students with program-specific information and support. They will show you the best resources for finding information in your field of study. These resources include databases, journals, books, ebooks, and websites. They also include information on how to reference resources and list materials to help you prepare for exams. Click on the link to the Virtual Portal from michener.ca/LRC to find the Program Resource Guides.
“Discover it all” search
Use the Google-like search box on the main page of the LRC website for the “one-stop shop” to find journal articles, eBooks, and more. This is a quick way to find a wide variety of resources on your search topic.
