He had a small working space and often cut sails on the frozen pond near his home, weighing the canvas down with beach rocks. In 1994 Michele Stevens joined the ranks of her great grandfather, grandfather and father and became the fourth generation to sew sails at the loft on the lower end of Second Peninsula, now known as Michele Stevens Sailloft Ltd. Our loft bridges technology and tradition by combining computer designed sails with the famous Stevens quality of building cruising sails that will get you home.

The Susan E. is a sailing dory designed by Jay Benford. She is cutter rigged, 34‟ LOA, 11‟beam and draws 4 ½ „with a displacement of 5 tons. The boat was built by Jim and Susan Davis and over a period of 20 years took 6000 hours to complete. She was launched in September, 2008. We are very proud to have had the opportunity to help them fulfill their dream!
