GEO-MORPHOLOGICAL SISTEM

Poissy is a small city of 38.000 inhabitants, set in the Ile-de-France region, just 30km from Paris. Since the Roman age, when it was a focus point for trades, this town keeps its importance over time and nowadays it is a huge industrial area where there are factories from Peugeot. Moreover, its old heritage linked to the French royal Capétiens dynasty, it’s an important patrimony for the city that includes the ancient broken bridge, the roman and gothic collegial, the old abbey and Ville Savoye, by Le Corbusier, UNESCO World Heritage since 2016. This small town is characterized by three main issues: the problem of the inundations, the separation between the city and the river and the absence of any kind of touristic infrastructure. The strategies that we suggest to solve these problems are based on the theme of connection. Improving the connections around the city by creating a new systems that links the surrounding areas, touristic attractions and the river. To make the touristic routes around the city easier to understand we have placed a sequence of white cubes design and based on the Ville Savoye that lead you from the center of the city to the villa. The railway, bus, boat station and motorway all meet close to the river bank which is where the main hub of are programme will be located. There are 2 parts to our project. First we looked into the problem of inundation where we have design a water square. This will also provided a new landscape and area in which the inhabitants of Poissy can spend there time. It will reconnect the city with the river.

IDEOGRAM

Secondly the new buildings will provided information shop, cafes, restaurants and other functions for the local community.
