Modern showrooms

If an architect that was designing a showroom wanted to do a unique design and make windows that are shaped in a triangle. The view for people will be limited, therefore the interior would have to be altered a little in order for the consumers to view what is played properly. However the windows that are square/rectangular shaped will give people better viewing area

Greiner Headquarters The showroom is called Greiner headquarters, a business founded 1922 in the small town in Germany, is known for its high quality chairs and seats and is selling products all over the world

Since my building is going to be on an island I have decided to do research on modern showrooms that are stationed on sand, from this I now have an idea of how the aesthetics be presented

Primary research

This is a picture resembles the Clients interests because he is interested in classical music.. Therefore I have decided to take a photo of the frame of a guitar. The curves on the frame are similar to some building designs I've seen and would be a good addition to my building, therefore I have taken consideration into making this my building design. If I make the building look like a guitar, it wouldn’t be as great therefore I have decided to alter the design to make it look more unique. I did this by slanting the angle of the‌. By doing this I have made the design look aesthetically pleasing as It does not look like a plain curved object.

The way these two objects are curved side by side can make a good building design. Therfore a copy of the same model but at different angle and placed them back to back. By doing this I now have a modern building design

The client has a deep interest in motorsport; therefore I have decided to adapt the design layout of the buildings to look like a spinning wheel The block symbolises the buildings in the campus. The small blocks in the middle symbolise the centre of the campus. These small blocks would be the centre of the tyre This drawing is a simplified version of the spinning wheel. To produce this I adapted the amount of spokes to the amount of building I have and kept the centre cap the barrel and the tyre the same

To develop the wheel into this design I decided to remove outer lip and the barrel. The reason is because I didn’t want the building to be based off a wheel of a normal car so that the building will look more revised and architectural.

The island of louis Vuitton

Drawings it was by all accounts a historic moment for Louis Vuitton when the doors to its first Maison in Southeast Asia officially opened last weekend at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands. This is not just one of merely 12 Louis Vuitton Maison's in the world, but also its only store on water.

The man-made island of glass and steel is one of just 2 standalone pavilions designed by Moshe Safdie as part of the overall Marina Bay Sands integrated resort development. Simply making one’s way to the Louis Vuitton Island Maison is a journey in itself – as is the intention! Visitors can choose to do so via an outdoor bridge, by boat (disembarking at the jetty) or from the mall-linked tunnel.

The unique thing about this building is that it is made to look like its floating in water. This is because the building has nothing surrounding it, allowing the bottom of the structure to be exposed.

Draw this building exposed on water then draw sand around it. That will lead to your idea

Inspirational buildings : pit buildings

Motor Racing Building in central England, UK – Silverstone design by Populous architects John Barrow, Senior Principal of Populous said: “This new striking pit and paddock design not only reflects the speed and excitement in racing itself, but it has already become a pioneering landmark and a bespoke symbol of Silverstone. The building’s dramatic, continually changing roofline responds to the speed and tension inherent in racing itself – its end point at the new circuit’s final corner, reaches towards the skies. The structure has dual functionality; above the garages, the hospitality areas provide quiet, climate-controlled surroundings with unbeatable views of the split-second timing strategies at play below. Large numbers of teams, media and hospitality guests can be catered for to the highest of standards during Blue Riband events. At other times, the sustainable approach to the design allows exhibition, conferencing and educational spaces to run simultaneously above a fully operational racing circuit. New spectator facilities, corporate grandstands, commercial and leisure opportunities, a technology park and on-site hotels will complement the year-round venue. Replaced with water as the current of the water will symbolise the the race cars entering and exiting the pit lane

I feel like the concept behind this building is similar to mine as we both have the idea to conclude the atmosphere of motorsport racing in one motion. The main attraction towards this building is the design of the roof. The vibrant and dynamic changing roofline responds to the speed and tension inherent in racing itself, and the dual functionality of the structure will allow running hospitality programs whilst having a fully operational racing circuit. https://www.e-architect.co.uk/e ngland/silverstone-pit-paddock

Simple Paper model

This is a quick physical presence of the proposed designs in my examples. The model is a 3-dimensional replica or expression of the design, usually at a scale much smaller than full size.

3D CAD design

These lines here are to represent the windows of the building this means that the interior will always be visible which gives the people a chance to take in the luxurious interior as they are passing by.

This CAD design displays a more detailed view of my idea. In this cad I have designed a path that is approximately 300 mm depth just to be filled with water to create a unique footpath that guides people to where I want them to go. This is to present a more up to date look for the building in order to make the building more exiting to view.

Advanced model

The reason of this model is to combined my two ideas together and see how it would look. The idea I took from the Silverstone pit building design and my idea from my first showroom design. I used the layout of my first design because my plan is to have a shallow water stream to flow around the building's exterior.

Pen drawings from secondary sources

These are a set drawings created with my own design ideas using all the buildings i have recorded in the previous slides. The bottom image was completely random, and I took a view from a different angle and from that I generated a different structure . The design underneath was inspired by the buildings made on the ninth slide. It uses curves and just layers them behind each other which is a really simple design idea and quite effective.

Development models of car light Models are made from drawings from pervious page

Before the development, the building was up straight at 90 degrees. In this design I have taken information from both of my primary research and put it together to make this design

Cad and drawings

These building designs are generated my previous model. What I did here was experiment with orientation, so what I did was take the original structure and rotated it in different angles. This allowed me to get new ideas and different perspectives of the building. The idea I produced was creating a showroom on a private island surrounded by a stream of water. An example can be seen on a secondary image on my previous pages. I used the idea of shape morphing an used that to create ideas.

Instead of this building being curved, it has a shape where the sides are changing direction. Allowing it to look like hexagon but really the shape is alternating, therefore parallel to the architectural reason towards the Silverstone design.

Models created with wire. The idea got from this was a stadium. I got this shape out of my previous designs with the curved structures and I implanted a curved feature on this model to have stadium shape in conclusion. I really like this shape as it minimalist but not quite unique as you would not see a conventional showroom built in that type of shape. Although I do believe that the shape I have out of this model is to plane therefore my plan is to add and angles to make it look interesting. Therefore I will explore ideas with the stadium style.

Grand entrance designs Entering the building the Grand Entrance you immediately come into is a large domed space. Its form and decoration draw the Classical Revival style of 16th century France, with pillars, arches, a dome and surroundings of polished marble and stone. The aim is to create an impression of grandeur/refinement and rapidly set the atmosphere to those walking in the interior space. The Grand Entrance was also designed for practical purposes. Circulation space was needed for people to plan their visit, get information or meet others.

Showroom grand entrance

More than just an entryway, a grand entrance should serve a purpose which aligns with the function and mission of the venue you are about to explore. At over 18-feet tall. Made from carved luxury materials, traditional marble tile, natural brass and golden tones and hand-carved iron from higher class. In addition to function, adding symbolism to an entrance can elevate the design from practical to celebratory. Symbols have been incorporated into architecture throughout history as a form of reminding you what the theme is all about. A grand entrance should contain a sense of ceremony and greater meaning, preparing us for what awaits within. Throughout the many materials making up the grand entrance, you’ll find many thing that have been altered to symbolise and remind you of the theme, for example the spiral staircase will be coated in grey carbon fibre, grey to keep the colour of the luxury materials and carbon fibre to symbolise the light weight chassis and bodies that were fitted on track vehicle to improve performance. The spiral stairs is also symbolised. This is to symbolise the bends and turns that occur in a grand tour.

The car in this room brings a really rich and elegant theme to the space

When there's complicated design for simple function, it invites the whole luxury/modern look

The water patio with separated steps already sets theme before walking in the building

Interior designs

Here is another space also designed for a car to be on display

This can be a potential hallway for the building

There can a lounging area here or space for art, sculpture etc

Featuring pictures around the room This can be an entrance to the room underneath The material for the wall is glass so that you would be able to view the car on display from outside

Part 2

Brief • As already said The client is a Wealthy motorsport race engineer / manager and has planned to host an invite only showroom/expo event every year somewhere located in Dubai(palm world islands) which will be based on viewing different arts and pictures of the most overwhelming moments in the f1 season. • The client is successful in his career to be a senior manager and wants to take ownership of the building he expresses is profession at the famous marina bay racetrack pit lane in Singapore. He would like to redesign this building to fit in more with Singapore standards as they are known to have unique architectural buildings.

Specification This building will be a pit building in the marina bay circuit which will need to be aluminite, and feature garages to store each car. There will be various sitting areas for people that want to relax inside the building while watching the race and will feature modern materials such as marble metal, and glass most importantly for viewing conditions.

Marina bay circuit

Location Marina Bay Sands is one of two winning proposals for Singapore's first integrated resorts. The two large-scale resorts were conceived to meet singapores economic and tourism objectives for the next decade and will have 30-year casino licenses, exclusive for the first ten years. Bidders were assessed based on four criteria: tourism appeal and contribution, architectural concept and design, development investment, and strength of the consortium and partners.

Marina Bay is an upscale area of skyscrapers, posh hotels and luxury malls. It's known for the towering Singapore Flyer Ferris wheel and the flower conservatories and colourful Super trees of Gardens by the Bay. Performances and cutting-edge art exhibitions are put on at the futuristic Esplanade Theatre. The neighbourhood has a diverse range of eating options, from low-key food centres to upscale restaurants.

The Marina Bay is a race track known as a Street Circuit. It is a street circuit around Marina Bay in Singapore encompassing the planning areas of Downtown . In addition It is the venue for the Singapore Grand Prix. The track is 3.146 miles long in a harbour side location.

The marina bay circuit is always at night due to broadcasting at lunchtime in the UK. As the race is held on a street circuit, it could be properly illuminated during the evening.

Modern showrooms

If an architect that was designing something and wanted to do a unique design. the main idea would be to not make it look ordinary. Therefore view of the alternating roofline does the trick as It also gives the design of the glass an affect as well. To exclude the look from the outside, when viewing from the interior the celling will be slanted to give an architectural affect. the concept behind this building is so that the culture of motorsport racing in displayed one motion of action. The main attraction towards this building is the design of the roof. The vibrant and dynamic changing roofline responds to the speed and tension inherent in racing itself, and the dual functionality of the structure will allow running hospitality programs whilst having a fully operational racing circuit.

Since my building is going to be on a race track, I have decided to do research on modern race track buildings that are station either on the race track or on campus.

Pit garages hjjjj

Since my building is going to be on an island, I have decided to do research on modern showrooms that are stationed on sand, from this I now have an idea of how the aesthetics be presented

This building features a zig zag type roof, this allows a simple building like this to be unique and appealing

The roofline of this building looks like its aiming at something using the shape of a triangle. This could be to symbolise something related to the use of the building. For example like Silverstone, they design the roof line in relate to there sport (culture of motorsport racing in displayed one motion of action).

Its unusual to see a roof like this as most unique curved buildings normally continue the curved line, however because the length of this building is small, only one curve is necessary.

A bunch of triangles pointing to specific directions in order to create a curve. This roofline looks similar to a bird wing.

Inspiration

Mercedes stockport (60x80)

This is the Mercedes stark port designed by‌as a Mercedes showroom space. Its designed as a pit building because it is located next to a motorway therefore making it look like a pit lane building as the theme relates to cars. For example the length is long and parallel to the road like pit buildings would be in a circuit in order to slip off and on the track as soon as possible. The dimensions of this building would be perfect for a pit building because there's enough length for 15 garages along side each other, and also enough width to fit facilities at the back f the garage and enough height for and additional floor to give space for a viewing the race.
