CLUB NEWS Walpole Island First Nation Native Territories Avian Research Project and Walpole Island First Nation are sponsoring an International Migratory Bird Day Celebration, “Go Wild, Go Birding,� from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ontario island’s Heritage Centre. The event will feature bird identification lessons, spring migration discussions, bird banding demonstrations, a tour of a banding station, guest speakers, crafts and food vendors. Blue Water Shrine Club The club and Shriners Hospitals will have a free Outreach Clinic for children from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Blue Water YMCA, 1525 Third St., Port Huron. The clinic will prescreen area children for possible treatment at a Shriners hospital. The hospitals provide free medical care for chil-

dren who have orthopedic problems. The hospitals also treat acute fresh burns; do reconstructive or restorative surgery for healed burns, scarring resulting in interference of limb mobility or scarring and deformity of the face. The only requirement is that a patient be 17 or younger. Shriners also arrange transportation to the hospitals. 25 years ago  A crew of red-shirted rats patrolled part of the Black River on a search and destroy mission Saturday. The rats — otherwise known as volunteers in the 18th annual Black River Cleanup — were looking for and removing downed trees, floating logs and other debris to keep the river from I-94 to the Black River canal safe.
